REVENUE SPECIALIST I HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21.66 - $28.36
REVENUE SPECIALIST II HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $24.25- $31.76
REVENUE SPECIALIST III HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $27.17 - $35.58

OPEN UNTIL FILLED – APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELY
- Provide customer service to the general public, County Departments/Offices, and
municipalities regarding account payments, inquiries and compliance to ordinances.
- Conduct routine field inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to
ensure compliance with ordinances administered by Charleston County Revenue
Collections Department.
- Specializes in the enforcement of a limited number of ordinances administered by
Charleston County Revenue Collections.
- Investigate complaints regarding potential ordinance violations.
- Issue notices of violation, citations, and warnings to businesses and individuals found in
non-compliance.
- Document inspection findings, maintain accurate records, and prepare detailed reports of
ordinance violations and enforcement actions.
- Provide information and assistance to the public regarding ordinance requirements and
the compliance process.
- Coordinate with other county and municipal departments, agencies, and stakeholders to
resolve enforcement issues.
- Stay current with changes in ordinances, and enforcement procedures.
- Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the
classification.
- May be designated to report to work during hazardous weather or emergency conditions.
- Attend and testify at hearings and court proceedings related to code enforcement cases
as necessary.
- Represent Charleston County Revenue Collections Department at hearings, court
proceedings, and community meetings related to complex code enforcement cases.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution; or
- Previous experience in code enforcement, law enforcement, or a related field is desirable.
- Knowledge of municipal codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Strong observational and investigative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confrontational situations with tact and professionalism.
- Proficiency in using computer software for documentation and record-keeping.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Or, Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge,
skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Knowledge:
• Thorough knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Substantial knowledge of modern office procedures, filing systems and procedures.
• Substantial knowledge of County structure and responsibilities, practices and procedures
of assigned Department.
Skills:
- Skilled in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using technical
and nontechnical language.
- Skilled in operating a personal computer using standard or customized software
applications appropriate to assigned tasks, including GIS and Web software.
Abilities:
- Able to perform work with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to conduct field inspections, which may involve walking, standing, and climbing.
- Exposure to various weather conditions during outdoor inspections.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed
- Able to prioritize workload to maximize efficiency.
- Able to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed
under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
- Able to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to
