Position Summary

The ICT Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing production units to the component level using In-Circuit Test (ICT) equipment and standard electronic test tools. This role supports manufacturing operations by ensuring product quality, identifying root causes of failures, and performing repairs in accordance with Adtran quality standards and procedures.

Shift Requirement: Friday - Sunday, 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to the individual component level.
  • Utilize ICT failure reports, schematics, process documentation, photographs, and written or verbal instructions to diagnose and repair production units.
  • Verify ICT failures and determine root cause, including equipment setup issues, process defects, component failures, and other production-related concerns.
  • Operate and understand the functionality of ICT equipment, including Teradyne and GenRad systems.
  • Perform component-level rework and minor repairs on both through-hole (PTH) and surface mount (SMT) assemblies as required.
  • Ensure all repairs meet established workmanship, quality, and reliability standards.
  • Follow Adtran procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements during all repair activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Effectively manage multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail and productivity expectations.
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance to support operational requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Applied Electronics or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-5 years of experience troubleshooting and debugging digital electronic circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical documentation.
  • Experience using standard electronic test equipment, including:
    • Digital Multimeters (DMM)
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Frequency generators
    • Computer-based test equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with In-Circuit Test (ICT) systems, particularly Teradyne and GenRad platforms.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of data communications interfaces, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
  • Experience with Bit Error Rate Testers (BERT).

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn manufacturing and business systems such as AEGIS, Fusion, and BaaN ERP.
  • Demonstrated experience removing and replacing both PTH and SMT components, including:
    • Resistors
    • Capacitors
    • Diodes
    • Integrated circuits
    • Transistors
    • Connectors
    • Switches
    • Fuses
    • Transformers
    • Inductors
    • LEDs
  • Ability to identify and correct common component, assembly, and soldering defects.
  • Knowledge of proper soldering, flux application, and PCB cleaning techniques.
  • Understanding of IPC-A-610 and Adtran quality standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform detailed electronic assembly inspection and repair activities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and use hand tools, microscopes, and electronic test equipment as required.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to inspect small electronic components and solder connections.
