Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Radiology Tech, Weekend Option, you will provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department, performing high-quality images and exams with sensitivity to patient needs, and upholding safe radiation practices during weekend shifts. Every day you will operate imaging equipment, maintain patient comfort, follow all safety protocols, and act as a clinical resource and role model for students, staff technologists, and other hospital personnel, ensuring current standards of practice for the unit. To be successful in this role, you will possess strong technical skills in radiology, meticulous attention to radiation safety, and excellent patient care and communication abilities. Your leadership qualities and commitment to maintaining high standards of practice during weekend hours are essential.
- Performs diagnostic radiology procedures, providing safety for self, patients and all other individuals.
- Practices all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA).
- Produces quality images in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
- Provides information and instruction to patient and/or family regarding the procedure and responds to their physical and emotional needs.
- Observes patient and equipment during the procedure and reports / documents unusual occurrences and records patient's condition.
- Facilitates smooth patient flow, scheduling and optimal use of equipment/resources.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma
- One (1) year post certification experience to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers
- ARRTR: Registered Technologist, Radiology R.T. (R) (ARRT)
- Current Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
- ARRTBD: Bone Density certification preferred within six (6) months of hire, if applicable to entity
- LRT; Kansas LRT, (applicable entities)
Preferred
- Associate's Degree, strongly preferred
- Bachelor's Degree
- Previous Radiologic Technologist experience
