Correspondent

About the role 

The Correspondent role is part of the News & Sports department and is responsible for reporting and writing news stories for broadcast. As a frontline member of the newsgathering team, the Correspondent plays a vital role in delivering timely, accurate, and engaging content. This position contributes to the organisation by covering events, conducting research and interviews, and ensuring that all reporting aligns with editorial standards and company policies. 

What will you do 

• Report and write news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of events 

• Review and correct content for grammar, punctuation, and editorial style 

• Gather information through research, interviews, and attendance at relevant events 

• Evaluate leads and tips to develop story ideas and discuss priorities with editors 

• Transmit news stories or reporting information from remote locations using appropriate equipment 

• Edit or assist in editing video content for broadcast 

• Investigate breaking news developments including disasters, crimes, and human interest stories 

• Ensure all reporting complies with journalistic ethics and legal standards 

• Maintain accurate records of reporting activities and expenses 

• Ensure all digital activities reflect Disney’s values: Integrity, Creativity, Collaboration, Community, and Inclusion 
   

Required Qualifications & Skills  

• Graduate or postgraduate degree in Journalism, Communication Studies, or Social Sciences 

• Comprehensive knowledge of current affairs and politics 

• Strong command of language and grammar 

• Ability to manage time and resources effectively 

• Capacity to work under pressure and during crisis situations 

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

Preferred 

• Experience in field reporting or broadcast journalism 

• Familiarity with video editing tools and remote transmission equipment 

• Multilingual proficiency is a plus

• May require travel and field reporting under varying conditions
