Our Analytics organization comprises of data analysts who focus on enabling strategies to enhance customer and partner experience and optimize business performance through data management and development of full stack descriptive to prescriptive analytics solutions using cutting edge technologies thereby enabling business growth.
Role Summary/Purpose:
VP, Business Intelligence – H&W and H&A: This People Manager role is part of India Analytics Hub & Business Intelligence (IAH & BI) org. The role will deliver on business and organizational priorities for Health & Wellness and Home & Auto platforms focusing on business intelligence solutions, that are powered by data and analytics. The candidate will own both product outcomes (roadmap, adoption, value realization) and delivery execution (planning, dependencies, predictable releases) for assigned Business Intelligence products and capabilities. The candidate will also collaborate with internal Synchrony platform analytics teams across US and India, cross-functionally and with our partners to enhance overall customer experience and guide our stakeholders in making more informed decisions by delivering governed, scalable, and user-friendly BI solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned BI products/features (intake → discovery → build → launch → adoption → continuous improvement).
Define and maintain product vision, roadmap, and priorities, securing alignment and leadership buy-in.
Establish and track success measures / OKRs (e.g., adoption and usage, stakeholder satisfaction, time-to-deliver, data quality/accuracy, productivity).
Lead discovery to translate business needs into clearly defined problem statements, requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and standardized metric definitions.
Drive adoption and change management: communications, training, user guides, release notes, onboarding, and recurring enablement (office hours).
Ensure on-time delivery, high-quality outputs, including performance, scalability, reliability, and supportability; and complete documentation in alignment with audit and governance requirements.
Own project execution from scoping through delivery using Agile/Hybrid methods; manage scope, schedule, resourcing, and delivery commitments.
Maintain an up-to-date, transparent delivery plan (backlog, milestones, and dependencies) and a RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, decisions) for leadership reporting.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned platform/CoE/enterprise stakeholders; run operating cadences (e.g., weekly status, prioritization reviews, steering updates).
Lead stakeholder working sessions and product demos in partnership with analytics teams; document decisions, actions, owners, and timelines.
Mentor/coordinate team members in a matrix environment; clarify RACI, ensure accountability, and remove blockers.
Manage and develop the team, including workforce planning, hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in relational databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for validation, reconciliation, and data-driven decisioning.
Minimum 8+ years of hands-on and demonstrated experience delivering BI/analytics products (dashboards, standardized reporting, self-service BI, metrics/semantic layers) with measurable adoption and business outcomes.
Hands-on familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI/visualization platforms and BI best practices (performance, usability, basic security/access concepts).
Strong project and team management capability: workload, backlog management, user stories, dependency estimation, sprint/release planning.
Working knowledge of data warehousing/lakehouse concepts, ETL patterns, and data modeling fundamentals (schemas, dimensions/facts).
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and ability to tell a clear story with data and numbers to senior leaders.
Experience in managing teams with ability to motivate team, drive change, create a culture of learning, innovation and recognition
Ability to solve complex technical and business problems with minimal supervision.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Python and/or SAS for analysis, automation, or prototyping.
Experience with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks) and related tooling.
Knowledge of AI/GenAI applications in BI and associated considerations.
Functional knowledge of Marketing, Sales, and/or Credit lifecycle.
People and project management experience along with superior thought leadership and framework based solutioning abilities.
Innovative mindset to improve current capabilities and discover new ones.
Eligibility Criteria:
Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or any other quantitative streams with 8+ years of hands-on relevant analytics/business intelligence experience, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of relevant analytics/business intelligence experience.
Work Timings:
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs) We are proud to offer flexibility at Synchrony. Our way of working allows you the option to work from home or workspaces in our Regional Engagement Hubs—Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, or Delhi/NCR.
