We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator to join our landfill operations team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, and haul trucks, to support the daily operations of an active landfill. This position requires strong equipment operating skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Schedule:12pm - 8:30pm
Essential Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, haul trucks, compactors, loaders, and other equipment as assigned.
- Perform landfill operations such as waste placement, spreading, compaction, grading, excavation, and cover application.
- Load, move, and transport materials throughout the landfill site.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Perform minor preventive maintenance, including checking fluid levels, lubricating equipment, and cleaning machines.
- Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and OSHA requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, spotters, and other team members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Monitor work areas for hazards and maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Assist with additional landfill duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in a landfill, construction, mining, quarry, or similar environment.
- Proven experience operating:
- Excavators
- Dozers (Bulldozers)
- Haul Trucks
- Experience operating compactors, wheel loaders, or motor graders is a plus.
- Knowledge of safe equipment operating practices and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Pay $39.72 HR
