Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of monthly payroll, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely processing for all employees whilst managing one Payroll Administrator.
- Own the organisation's total reward offering, including pensions, employee benefits, salary banding, annual pay reviews and bonus processes.
- Design, maintain and continuously improve salary grading and pay structures, ensuring internal equity and external market competitiveness.
- Manage relationships with payroll, pension and benefits providers, overseeing renewals, service delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Finance and HR to manage reward budgets, headcount planning, cost modelling and payroll forecasting.
- Lead annual salary and bonus review cycles, providing robust data analysis, budget modelling and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Monitor market trends, undertake salary benchmarking and provide strategic insight to ensure competitive reward practices.
- Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, pensions regulations, HMRC requirements and internal governance standards.
- Produce meaningful reward, payroll and headcount reporting that supports informed business decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement projects across reward, payroll and HR systems, enhancing efficiency, employee experience and organisational value.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven experience managing payroll and/or reward functions, with responsibility for end-to-end payroll delivery.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, pensions, employee benefits and reward frameworks.
- Experience managing annual salary review and bonus processes, including budget planning and financial modelling.
- Excellent analytical skills with advanced Excel capability and experience using HRIS and payroll systems.
- Strong understanding of salary benchmarking, pay structures and reward governance.
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, discretion and a continuous improvement mindset.
- CIPP and/or CIPD qualification, experience with job evaluation methodologies or leading reward transformation projects would be advantageous.
