Job title: Public Affairs Lead – General Medicines

  • Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
  • Work Style: Hybrid | Moderate travel

About the job

As Public Affairs Lead – General Medicines within our General Medicines team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the national environment for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) through meaningful patient advocacy, ecosystem partnerships, and public-affairs activation — focusing on early screening, timely diagnosis, health literacy, and support for families and caregivers navigating T1D. Ready to get started?

Join the team transforming how healthcare is delivered for chronic and specialty conditions worldwide. In General Medicines, you'll help drive meaningful outcomes in diabetes, transplant, and immunology – with the scale and urgency patients deserve, strengthening Sanofi's reputation as a trusted partner in advancing equitable access and optimized patient pathways.

About Sanofi:

We're an R&D-driven, AI-powered biopharma company committed to improving people's lives and delivering compelling growth. Our deep understanding of the immune system – and innovative pipeline – enables us to invent medicines and vaccines that treat and protect millions of people around the world. Together, we chase the miracles of science to improve people's lives.

Main responsibilities:

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with T1D patient associations, parent and caregiver groups, and juvenile diabetes foundations to advance patient advocacy and support initiatives.
  • Co-design programs that raise awareness on early symptoms, screening options, and autoantibody testing pathways, leading national and community initiatives that promote T1D early detection.
  • Support patient insights collection to map unmet needs around diagnosis delays, psychological burden, school integration, and daily disease management challenges.
  • Work with health authorities, pediatric associations, and endocrinology societies to promote policy recognition of T1D screening as a public-health priority.
  • Monitor national policies related to diabetes screening, chronic-disease management, and youth health programs, recommending strategies to shape a favorable environment for early detection and long-term care.
  • Establish cross-sector collaborations with pediatric hospitals, school-health programs, public-health foundations, digital-health partners, and research consortia.
  • Lead joint initiatives with NGOs and scientific societies to drive T1D health literacy, symptom recognition, and timely referral pathways.
  • Ensure patient insights and early-detection perspectives inform General Medicines strategic planning, public-affairs priorities, and corporate reputation efforts while maintaining compliance with Sanofi patient-engagement and ethical-governance standards.

About you

  • 5–7 years of experience in Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, or chronic diseases NGO environments, ideally with exposure to Type 1 Diabetes, endocrinology, pediatric health, or autoimmune conditions.
  • Strong understanding of the Type 1 Diabetes pathway including screening, autoantibody testing, diagnosis, psychological burden, school integration, and chronic management.
  • Experience managing partnerships with health authorities, scientific societies, and community-health organizations in a healthcare or advocacy context.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required for effective stakeholder engagement across diverse communities.
  • Experienced level competencies in Patient Advocacy, Healthcare Policies, Launch Strategy, Foster Innovation, and Strategic Insights.
  • Strong Partnership Development, Crisis Management, and Public Awareness Campaign capabilities.
  • Excellent Business Acumen, Communication skills, and Stakeholder Relationship Management abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Communications, Public Policy, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Passion for patient advocacy and demonstrated commitment to improving outcomes for patients with chronic conditions, particularly diabetes.

Why choose us?

  • Help shape the future of care for chronic and complex conditions like Type 1 diabetes and make a real impact at scale, with medicines that reach over 100 million people each year.
  • Drive meaningful change in a streamlined, AI-powered organization that values smart, modern ways of working and patient-centered approaches.
  • Lead impactful patient advocacy initiatives that directly improve early detection, diagnosis pathways, and support systems for T1D patients and families.
  • Build your career with access to cross-functional collaboration, international mobility programs, and structured development opportunities across Sanofi's global General Medicines network.
  • Enjoy a well-rounded rewards package that supports your success — with top-tier healthcare, flexible working, and 14 weeks of gender-neutral parental leave.
  • Join a workplace where diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core, with Employee Resource Groups and leadership programs that celebrate every voice.
