JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position represents Vancouver Coastal Health and Richmond Hospital in attending to requests for patient information and/or patient services in accordance with established procedures. Acts as a receptionist: greets patients and visitors and directs them to appropriate areas. Provides information services to staff, patients and the general public. Operates a switchboard to answer incoming calls; obtains information and transfers to the appropriate department and/or area, takes/relays messages, pages staff as required. Responds to general enquiries and/or refers to others. Completes patient billings upon discharge. Updates lists and directories of staff, departments, operating hours, services and telephone numbers.
QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience Grade 12, plus one years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge & AbilitiesAbility to keyboard at 30 wpmAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to deal with others effectivelyPhysical ability to carry out the duties of the positionAbility to organize workAbility to operate related equipmentThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
