Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

Here at General Motors, we are looking for a hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions to join our Engine Calibration team! Engine calibration engineers work with vehicles, software, and algorithms to design and release engine calibrations to meet customer designs and performance requirements. They support the lead calibrator and diagnostic strategist, as well as stakeholders including the members of the vehicle platform, engine hardware, manufacturing plant and quality team. Depending on the area of responsibility, a Calibrator may focus more heavily on engine controls, serial data, platform interface, or diagnostic calibration functionality. These are meaningful roles that ensures the powertrain integration to vehicles performs at world class levels to meet program objectives.

This is a mid-level calibration position where the technical complexity, program scope, and program breadth combine to create a challenging role.  A few cross-system interactions exist in this role, interpersonal interfaces are required, and global reach is regional.  The candidate has some experience motivating others, can manage multiple projects and deadlines, and has experience with several vehicle systems/component domains.

  • Lead requirements development with other activities

  • Support root cause analysis

  • Lead troubleshooting activities for complex system issues across programs

  • Strong ability to efficiently capture and analyze empirical data.

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices

  • Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities and build mitigation action plans; track corrective actions

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related Engineering degree

  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience

  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis on complex problems

  • Knowledge of powertrain systems

  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehicles

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master of Science in Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience with in-vehicle testing
