The Dietary Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Dietary and Snack Bar, including meal planning, preparation, inventory control and regulatory compliance. This is a working supervisor position that supervises staff, supports scheduling, hiring, and performance management. Ensures food service operations are safe, efficient, and meet quality standards for patients, staff, and visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates of Arts Degree in Food Management, Dietetics, or related field preferred
- Two or more years of experience in quantity food preparation
- Previous supervisory experience in a food service setting preferred Previous experience in hospital food service preferred
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans daily operations including scheduling, prioritization of work, and order of food and supplies
- Assist the Dietary Manager with hiring, scheduling, performance evaluations, discipline and other personnel matters
- Maintain sanitation, infection control, and cleanliness standards across all work areas
- Supervise, train, and support Dietary and Snack bar staff to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective operations
- Ensure all staff are properly trained, equipped, and maintaining required documentation and tracking forms
- Communicate clearly with staff to ensure accuracy of patient dietary orders
- Verify deliveries and ensure accuracy of food and supply invoice
- Reconcile daily cafeteria revenue and verify cash handling accuracy
- Assist with development and ongoing management of departmental budget (personnel, food, and supplies)
- Coordinate menu planning with dietitian and ensure compliance with dietary requirements
- Ensure high levels of customer service for patients, staff, and visitors
- Support catering and special events as needed
- Perform duties across kitchen, tray line, snack bar, cafeteria, and dish room as needed during staffing shortages
- Support cross-training across the kitchen and snack bar areas
- Assist the Dietary Manager with maintaining monthly reports of departmental expenditures and revenues including snack bar sales and charges, interdepartmental charges, dietary tray counts and fee meals charged
- Assist Dietary Manager with planning and conducting monthly in-service Education for Dietary employees
- Evaluate employee competence in job-related knowledge and skills, safety, and infection control annually, and employee competence in equipment operation whenever new equipment is installed or when need is indicated by user error
- Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal and state.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of laws and regulations governing Food Service preparation
- Basic Microsoft computer skills
- Able to communicate effective in English, both verbally and in writing
- Additional languages preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Stressful environment
- Exposure to odors, blood, body fluids, and excrements, adverse environmental conditions and hazardous materials
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
- Position requires moderate to heavy lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing
