Description
Finance Group Treasury (GT) & Corporate Line (CL) / Business Control & Advice – Central GT is looking for a Senior Associate Finance Control professional with a strong financial background who is eager to work in an ambitious and dynamic finance team with deep business expertise and specialist knowledge.
Are you passionate about Finance and Treasury? Would you like to understand how Treasury - the “bank within the bank” - supports the commercial businesses and helps keep ING safe by managing liquidity, solvency, funding, and financial risk? And are you interested in how Finance supports Treasury from a performance, control, and reporting perspective?
The Finance Treasury team analyses and reports on Treasury performance to support decision-making. We combine a strong understanding of detail and sensitivities with the ability to step back and see the bigger picture. We translate complexity into a clear storyline for a broad range of stakeholders, including the Treasury business, Group Finance, local Finance teams, and service centres. We do this by working collaboratively across the globe, challenging the status quo, and staying on top of technological developments.
Are you enthusiastic to make your next steps in Finance? Motivated to gain experience working in a dynamic and international environment? Anxious to learn and switch between complexity and the big picture? Then join us!
Your work environment
Finance GT & CL is part of Group Finance and is responsible for the financial management of Treasury, Capital Management and Other Corporate Line activities within ING. Within Finance GT & CL, the Business Control & Advice – Central GT team supports GT Management in the Netherlands in keeping the bank safe, secure, and sound, while also supporting ING’s ambition to become the best bank in Europe.
The team consists of financial control and accounting experts with in-depth knowledge of Group Treasury activities, financial market instruments, balance sheet management, IFRS accounting, and regulatory accounting topics. The team reports directly to the CFO GT & CL.
A key responsibility of the team is to be fully in control of, and have a deep understanding of, the financials of the GT business executed in the Netherlands. Based on these insights, the team actively supports and advises a wide range of stakeholders. Our way of working can be summarised as advice by means of control: strong financial control is the foundation that enables us to assess, understand, and challenge the correctness of the financials, and to provide meaningful support and advice.
Because the financials are closely linked to the underlying GT business, a strong understanding of Treasury is an important prerequisite for success in this role.
What you will do
You will be part of a team of 11 FTE. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a business partner to GT by providing support and advice, based on a thorough understanding of the GT portfolios;
- Performing financial accounting control activities across balance sheet and P&L, including product control, hedge accounting control, and challenge of price testing and valuation;
- Performing management accounting control activities, including forecasting, budget planning, business allocations, and communication of financial results to stakeholders;
- Performing regulatory accounting control activities, including solvency and liquidity topics such as the Liquidity Coverage Ratio, and supporting the GT business in understanding its regulatory liquidity and funding position;
- Developing and optimising management information tooling, dashboards, and processes using modern technology;
- Actively supporting and contributing to projects as an end user, for example in relation to hedge accounting, result allocations, and the launch of new products
What you bring
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Acts in line with ING’s values and the Orange Code;
- Is seen as a reliable and valuable business partner for stakeholders;
- Is curious and genuinely wants to understand how things work;
- Has excellent communication skills, is a true team player, and brings a proactive attitude;
- Can understand the bigger picture while maintaining a strong eye for detail;
- Is comfortable with complexity and able to operate in a demanding and dynamic environment;
- Has working knowledge of financial accounting, specifically IAS 39 / IFRS 9 and hedge accounting, financial market products including derivatives, risk management, relevant regulations, and GT Finance processes and systems;
- Has strong skills in Excel and Power BI; affinity with modern tooling and AI is a plus;
- Brings strong analytical and presentation skills;
- Is fluent in English
Education & Experience
- A Master’s degree, for example in Economics, Econometrics or Business Administration;
- At least 7 years of relevant working experience
