Lead Architect

Overview

SBS is looking for an experienced Lead Software Architect to join our Research & Development team in Noida. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the architecture of next-generation banking platforms, lead technology innovation, and influence the future of cloud-native financial solutions.

 

As a Lead Software Architect, you will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, product management, and technical leadership to design scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications. You will drive architectural decisions, establish technology standards, mentor engineering teams, and ensure successful delivery of business-critical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of enterprise-scale software solutions using modern cloud-native technologies.
• Define architectural vision, standards, and best practices across multiple products and engineering teams.
• Design scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available distributed systems.
• Drive modernization initiatives and continuously improve the architecture of existing products and platforms.
• Collaborate with Agile, cross-functional teams throughout the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Define solution architecture aligned with business goals, functional requirements, and non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, maintainability, and reliability.
• Design business domains following Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
• Conduct technology evaluations and Build vs. Buy assessments to recommend optimal solutions.
• Review solution designs and provide technical leadership during implementation.
• Mentor development teams on architecture principles, design patterns, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure cloud-native deployment strategies and operational excellence.
• Drive API-first architecture using OpenAPI specifications and modern integration patterns.
• Promote engineering excellence through architectural governance, documentation, and design reviews.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), to enhance product capabilities and engineering productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 12–15 years of software engineering experience with a strong background in enterprise application development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Software Architect or Lead Architect delivering enterprise-scale solutions from concept to production.
• Proven experience designing distributed systems using Java and modern open-source technologies.
• Strong experience in software architecture documentation, design methodologies, and architectural governance.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing systems that meet high standards of scalability, availability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.
