Purchasing Buyer – Food Service Supplies

S&W Wholesale Foods, Louisiana’s leading independent food service supplier, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer to join our dynamic merchandising team. Key Responsibilities:

- Source and replenish a variety of food and non-food items to meet customer demand

- Manage the category cycle for assigned product categories, ensuring optimal stock levels and product availability

- Maintain accurate acquisition costs and ensure pricing integrity

- Achieve and maintain inventory goals as set by management

- Keep supplier and item information current in the host system and replenishment software

- Perform other duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational efficiency

Skills and Qualifications:

- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or category management within the food service or retail industry

- Strong understanding of inventory management and replenishment processes

- Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills

- Proficiency in inventory management software and MS Office Suite

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

- Excellent communication skills and a customer service mindset

Requirements

 Qualifications:

• 5 years’ experience in food procurement, preferably in supply chain or category Management
• Excellent verbal and written communication and oral presentation skills
• Ability to communicate clearly (written and verbal) and in an engaging manner with colleagues of various levels of experience and management
• Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of service requirements, shelf life, key factors that affect profitability of inventory, promotional and retailer needs
• High-level proficiency in computer applications and systems including Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
