WHO YOU ARE:
The Director, Technical Accounting plays a key role in supporting the Company's technical accounting and financial reporting functions, including the evaluation of complex transactions, development of accounting policies, preparation of accounting position papers, and support for financial statement disclosures. This role partners closely with senior leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and support strategic business initiatives. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting and financial reporting expertise, strong people leadership, professional agility, and the ability to support company growth by managing cross-functional projects and translating complex accounting matters into practical business solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Support technical accounting research and document the company’s position on complex corporate transactions.
Establish, update, and maintain accounting policies to ensure consistency and compliance across the entire enterprise.
Serve as a technical advisor to executive leadership and cross-functional teams, translating accounting or disclosure regulations into clear, actionable business guidance.
Partner with financial reporting teams to evaluate disclosure requirements, draft and review disclosure verbiage, and support the accuracy and completeness of consolidated financial statements and related disclosures.
Coordinate with external auditors, acting as a point of contact to resolve audit matters efficiently.
Provide strategic leadership, fostering professional growth and scaling capabilities to support company expansion.
Lead and nurture a work culture with a positive attitude that promotes open, frequent and dynamic communication among staff, stimulating teamwork to accomplish desired goals and objectives.
Collaborate with other departments in accomplishing strategic objectives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) license.
Five or more years of supervisory experience.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement presentation requirements.
Experience partnering with external auditors to resolve accounting and financial reporting matters.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Four or more years of experience in public accounting at a Big 4 firm.
Seven or more years of supervisory experience.
Past experience includes increasingly progressive responsibility at a large company.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong analytical and technical skills, with experience analyzing and interpreting financial data and financial reporting matters.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear technical accounting and disclosure language and convey financial information clearly to executives and non-financial stakeholders.
Strategic thinking capabilities and a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial statement presentation, and financial reporting processes.
Detail oriented, with the ability to conduct critical self-reviews and review the work of others to ensure accurate, complete, and timely work product.
Collaborative and results-oriented, with the ability to partner across departments, manage competing priorities, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced growth environment.
Professional agility and sound organizational skills to adapt to changing priorities, evolving reporting requirements, and strict deadlines.
Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet critical deadlines.
