Role description:
Arcadis Global Excellence Centre (GEC) provides additional capacity for our Australian offices and supports the technical delivery of projects delivered through each of our regional offices. It also allows for development opportunities through international work experience.
· Principal Engineer role within a global design consultancy firm
· Opportunity to work in Highways team delivering transport projects into Australia
· Based in Manila, Philippines
Job Purpose::
- Responsible for managing technical aspects of larger and/or more complex tasks or components of projects, meeting financial, quality, timeframe and health and safety objectives
- Manage the delivery of elements of larger projects in accordance with Arcadis management systems to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets
- Typically assigned to provide a controlling technical role on medium size and/or moderately complex tasks in single discipline
- Coordinate and manage teams of single (own) discipline engineers and technicians
- May undertake a Task Management Role in line with Arcadis Task Manager Academy competence requirements
- Work to ensure maximum internal stakeholder satisfaction, championing care and proactively working with internal stakeholders
Key Accountabilities:
- Promote and role model Arcadis Health and Safety Principles during the planning and delivery of work
- Perform role in accordance with the Arcadis behavioral framework Work alongside team leadership
- Promote the culture of the business Manage and take accountability for the performance and behaviors of more junior staff
- Work collaboratively with related design disciplines within an agreed engineering management environment to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution
- Maintain strong working relationship with senior staff in Arcadis GECs and regional offices and understand the wider company perspective
- Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal credibility in the company
- Oversee an agreed scope of work and the operational workload of a team ensuring work is allocated appropriately and resources are fully utilized
- Manage the performance of team members identifying and ensuring the resolution of any issues
- Develop, present and gain agreement for design options and opportunities to maximize the profitability of design components and drive the implementation of these
- Provide technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development
- Ensure effective financial and management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting of Arcadis GEC tasks as appropriate
- When appointed in the role of a Task Manager, drive project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes and undertake regular reviews, ensuring delivery is above expectation
- When appointed in the role of a Task Manager, communicate with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and requirements.
- Participate in development of technical proposals for Pursuit to Win activities led by regional office staff
- Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
- Provide technical leadership to the team and more junior staff Take accountability for the quality of work completed by the team
- Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution
- Undertake verification checking of elements of work with higher complexity
- Manage the production and quality of designs and associated documentation and reports to ensure that they meet or exceed expectations as well as Arcadis requirements, and that they comply with national standards and codes of practice
- Lead interdisciplinary reviews of deliverables on behalf of engineering discipline Support the Business Unit Leader in the commercial management of the business unit (e.g. cost to complete, resource planning etc.) to ensure a successful result
- Manage quality assurance and feedback from Arcadis’ regional offices ensuring effective communication of any change/modifications
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent and formally licensed to act as a professional engineer
- Excellent written and oral English language
- Possess 7-15 years of relevant professional experience
- Strong drainage design experience in using Australian standards/codes, NSW Roads and Maritime Standards and specifications; experience in VIC and RMS will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience of working independently and the ability to work in a complex, challenging environment
- Proficient in Design Software (eg 12D, Storm and Sanitary, HEC-RAS, MUSIC)
- Knowledgeable in Autocadd or similar
- Local or Expatriate
