About Us
Planet is a leading technology company transforming payments by putting customer experience first. We offer integrated solutions that include payment processing, VAT refunds, dynamic currency conversion, and management services for merchants in the Retail and Hospitality sectors worldwide.
In recent years, we have experienced significant growth, expanding our services and global presence.
With strong private equity investors, Advent International and Eurazeo, we have the financial capital and expertise to grow our capabilities and reach through acquisitions.
Our mission is to create a world of connected commerce where payments are simple, secure, and seamless, enabling our partners to deliver exceptional experiences to their customers.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Service & Configuration Lead to own Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) for Planet’s production estate – the service catalogue, the configuration management databases (CMDBs) and the end-to-end map of how Planet’s systems connect. You will drive the service catalogue, keep configuration data accurate and current – application owners, dependencies and the attributes teams rely on – and build the single, trusted view of the estate that underpins incident, change, capacity and audit decisions. Planet runs multiple CMDB platforms, so this is a cross-platform role focused on data quality, integration and governance rather than any single tool.
What you will do:
- Own the SACM practice end-to-end: service catalogue, configuration data model, CI lifecycle, baselines and audit trail.
- Own and drive the service catalogue – define and maintain services, service owners and relationships, and keep it the authoritative reference for the organisation.
- Keep the CMDB(s) accurate and current: application and service owners, configuration attributes, lifecycle status and the information incident, change and capacity teams depend on.
- Build and maintain the map of Planet’s systems and services – how they interact and depend on each other across the estate – to drive impact analysis, resilience and service mapping for critical customer journeys.
- Govern configuration data across Planet’s multiple CMDB platforms (e.g. Device42, ServiceNow, Jira and others in use), driving consistency, integration and reconciliation between them.
- Define and police configuration data-quality KPIs; make configuration data the trusted single source for operational decisions.
- Drive automated discovery and reconciliation to maintain coverage and accuracy at scale.
- Support regulatory, resilience and audit requirements with reliable configuration and service evidence.
- Partner with the Observability & Tooling team and application owners on integrations and automation of configuration processes.
Who you are:
- 4+ years in Service Asset & Configuration Management (SACM), CMDB or service catalogue management in a complex technology estate.
- Hands-on CMDB experience across one or more platforms (e.g. Device42, ServiceNow, iTop or similar) – comfortable spanning multiple tools rather than tied to one.
- Experience building and maintaining a service catalogue and service/dependency maps of a technology estate.
- Strong data-quality discipline and experience with automated discovery and reconciliation.
- A track record of establishing application/service ownership and keeping configuration data current across many teams.
- Understanding of how configuration and service data underpin incident impact analysis, change risk, capacity and audit.
- ITIL certification preferred (service configuration / SACM).
