Swift Fresh Market is a fast-casual restaurant serving American Cuisin in Fairfield, CT. We're known for Breakfast Burritos, Burgers, Fry Chicken and Rice Bowls. We are looking for cooks who take pride in consistent, high-quality food and enjoy working as part of a tight kitchen team.
The Role
The Line Cook prepares and plates dishes to our recipes and standards during service, keeps their station stocked and clean, and works closely with the rest of the kitchen to get food out accurately and on time.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Set up and break down your station, including prep work, stocking, and labeling.
- Work assigned stations (grill, sauté, fry, garde manger, etc.) during service.
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen team and expo to keep ticket times on target.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling procedures.
- Rotate product properly and minimize waste.
- Keep work areas, equipment, and storage clean and organized throughout the shift.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and putting away inventory.
- Support other stations and help with prep during slower periods.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of line cook experience in a restaurant kitchen (or strong culinary training).
- Knife skills and knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
- Ability to read and follow recipes and work efficiently under pressure.
- Food handler certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player with a positive attitude.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in a hot environment, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Nice to have:
- Experience with American cooking.
- Prior experience in a high-volume kitchen.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
