Description
A major transport infrastructure project (valued at more than $1 billion) is underway across South East Queensland, delivering complex rail, station and civil works requiring disciplined financial control and reporting. The head contractor is seeking a Cost Controller to manage financial reporting, budgets and cost control for the greenfield delivery scope. You'll track commitments and accruals, manage cost codes and forecasting, support change control processes and produce cost reports for project leadership with advanced spreadsheet capability and platform expertise.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain project budgets, cost codes and budget allocation systems
- Track commitments, purchase orders, accruals and actual expenditures
- Produce monthly cost reports and variance analysis for project leadership
- Forecast costs and support change order financial evaluation
- Manage cost-related aspects of contract administration
- Support earned value analysis and project financial performance tracking
- Coordinate with finance, procurement and subcontractor teams on cost matters
- Maintain cost reconciliation and audit trails
- Respond to cost inquiries and produce ad hoc financial reports
- Support project financial closeout and final account settlement
What We're Looking For
- Degree or diploma in quantity surveying, commerce, accounting, engineering or construction management
- 5+ years' cost control experience on construction, infrastructure, resources or energy projects
- At least one project of $100m+ in scope
- Budget management, cost code and forecasting expertise
- Advanced spreadsheet and data-analysis capability
- Experience with named enterprise cost or ERP platforms
- 2+ years' average tenure per employer with at least one cost control role held for 2+ years
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial delivery staff
- Strong accuracy and process discipline
- Good communication and collaboration skills
