Software Engineer (Java 21+) 

Help improve backend services for 9.5 million customers by building secure Java 21+ microservices and reliable digital banking experiences. 

 
We are looking for a Software Engineer who combines strong technical skills with ownership, creativity, and a continuous improvement mindset. This role is for someone who does not just implement requirements, but actively contributes ideas, challenges assumptions, and helps shape better solutions. 
 

You & your role 

Build and operate the backend services that power Rabobank's digital experiences. As Software Engineer (Java 21+), you design secure microservices, improve observability, solve production challenges and help shape better solutions together with developers, architects, product owners and stakeholders.

• Design, develop and maintain Java-based microservices for business-critical digital banking platforms. 

• Build scalable, secure and performant REST APIs that support reliable customer experiences.

• 5+ years of demonstrable experience with Java 21+ and Spring Boot 

• Solid understanding of distributed microservice architectures and API design 

• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and observability tooling 

• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment practices 

• Comfortable bringing forward ideas, challenging the status quo and influencing technical decisions 

• Fluent in English and able to collaborate effectively with developers, architects, product owners and stakeholders
