Role Overview
The HVAC Service Sales Rep plays a critical role in the growth and profitability of the HVAC Service business. In this role, you will build profitable service relationships with new customers, focus on renewable maintenance agreements, and support continued account growth within an assigned geographic territory. Working from a local branch office, you will partner closely with sales and operations colleagues to move opportunities forward and close business consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate, establish, and grow profitable service relationships with new customers.
- Sell renewable maintenance agreements as the foundation for long-term customer partnerships.
- Work an assigned geographic territory in collaboration with local branch sales and operations teams.
- Use sales tools to plan, document, and track sales progress and opportunities.
- Identify and develop new business by uncovering customer needs and market opportunities.
- Conduct sales calls focused on heating, cooling, ventilation, and control system equipment.
- Prepare, review, and finalize proposals and secure customer commitment to the Johnson Controls solution.
- Lead customer kick-off meetings, support issue resolution, and help maintain and extend service agreements.
- Create pull-through opportunities, support collections activity, and strengthen account growth.
- Develop territory marketing plans aligned with the Johnson Controls Building Solutions strategy.
- Attend trade shows, participate in professional organizations, and represent Johnson Controls with professionalism.
How You Will Do It
- Approach every opportunity with accountability, safety, and integrity while representing Johnson Controls professionally in every customer interaction.
- Stay close to the customer's work by listening carefully, identifying facility challenges, and understanding how HVAC service impacts daily operations.
- Use a disciplined sales process to identify, target, and qualify prospects, then build a referral network that expands your reach.
- Move with urgency and candor when resolving customer needs, positioning Johnson Controls as the supplier of choice through practical, value-driven solutions.
- Improve every day through thoughtful problem-solving by using Salesforce.com, sharing clear progress updates, and asking for support when needed to keep deals moving.
- Win as one team by collaborating with branch sales and operations colleagues, valuing diverse perspectives, and aligning efforts to serve the customer well.
- Connect service capabilities to customer goals with a focus on renewable maintenance agreements, digital service offerings, sustainability, and decarbonization.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of progressive commercial sales experience, preferably in commercial HVAC or Building Automation.
- Exposure to sales methodologies, standards, and disciplines.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and close business consistently.
- Comfort using sales tools and maintaining accurate records of sales activity and account status.
Nice to Have
- Aptitude for technical knowledge with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience selling service, maintenance agreements, or other intangible offerings.
- Knowledge of building HVAC systems.
- Experience with Salesforce.com.
- Post-secondary education.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $53,400 - $80,250 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
