Role Highlights

This is an Accountant position suited to someone who enjoys working across a broad range of accounting responsibilities, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll assist with the preparation and reporting of the organisation's financial information for internal management purposes and key external stakeholders. You'll be responsible for a range of accounting activities including inter-entity transactions, reconciliations, GST, accounts payable and receivable, monthly profitability analysis and month-end procedures. There may also be occasional requirements to travel within Australia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries in Xero for inter-entity transactions and accruals

• Prepare intercompany account reconciliations

• Prepare bank reconciliations

• Reconcile, review and report on GST obligations

• Review and reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable ledgers

• Analyse monthly profitability and balance sheet movements

• Identify and investigate unusual financial variances and trends

• Perform month-end accounting procedures and assist with closing the accounting books

• Assist with other accounting duties as required by the business

Candidate Profile

You will ideally have previous experience in a similar accounting position or within a mid-to-large accounting practice with property experience. Experience using Xero is required, along with a Bachelor degree in Accounting or an equivalent qualification. You'll ideally hold a CA or CPA qualification, or be currently studying towards CA or CPA. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a busy environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities. You'll be self-motivated, professional, organised and accountable, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail and the ability to work confidently within a team environment.
