Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager - Logistics Category LATAM – MGS Commercial – Querétaro, QRO
Purpose of the role:
This role is a strategic leadership position responsible for the end-to-end Category Management of LATAM Logistics. It manages buying operations activities as well as local sourcing activities in the region to create a lean, end-to-end support system for indirect logistics goods and services. Serving multiple sites and countries across Mars segments (such as Snacking, Petcare, and Royal Canin), the manager works closely with global and regional sourcing directors to ensure the efficient and effective execution of logistics procurement strategies.
With an annual spend growing with +$100 million across approximately 150+ logistics suppliers, this position is responsible for identifying and delivering value chain optimization opportunities. You will act as the first line of escalation on service, pricing, or contract issues between suppliers and the business, while championing the supplier relationship management (SRM) process to drive long-term competitive advantage.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or a highly quantitative field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Sourcing or Commercial function, with supplier/stakeholder management experience and strong financial acumen ideally within Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain category.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills to successfully collaborate with global and regional stakeholders.
Advanced professional competency in Commercial Negotiation, Supplier Performance Management, Stakeholder Engagement, and Sourcing Category Expertise.
Proven capability in core Mars leadership competencies: Dealing with Ambiguity, Strategic Agility, Financial Acumen, Drive for Results, Comfort with Higher Management, and Customer Focus
What will be your key responsibilities?
LATAM Logistics Category Sourcing: Secure price, capacity, and service levels in line with business commitments by deploying a wide array of sourcing tools (negotiations, RFPs, e-procurement, and strategic partnerships) for an annual spend exceeding $100 million.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management (SRM): Draft, negotiate, and execute robust commercial contracts. Monitor supplier performance KPIs, drive risk management processes, and implement continuous improvement plans to ensure supply security.
Cross-Segment Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Finance Directors, Supply Chain Directors, Plant Managers, and business leaders across Mars Snacking, Pet, and Royal Canin to capture business needs and constructively challenge requirements.
Value Chain Optimization: Leverage global and regional procurement practices, identify synergies, eliminate roadblocks, and lead regional and global logistics projects to standardize and streamline buying operations.
