Account Manager

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Perform customer sales and service activities for a defined area to enhance service center profitability and growth.
• Manage, service and develop a territory of up to $1 million in sales.
• Active involvement in the Company's Total Quality Management process as evidenced by continuous improvement of processes directed toward reducing costs, improving cycle time, increasing sales/gross profit and customer satisfaction.
• Carries out policies and procedures as defined in the quality manual.
• Continuous development through reading, schools, seminars and on-the-job training.

JOB DUTIES

• Utilize promotions, campaigns, and business contacts to seek out prospective accounts; introduce company and product; establish and cultivate a contact; analyze prospect's needs and potential sales volume.
• Engage in extensive on-site customer contact to conduct sales and service activities. Develop strong sales positions; introduce new products, identify product applications, and keep account informed of product developments. Discuss and evaluate potential sales; prepare quotations and proposal; follow up and negotiate terms; close transaction. Act as a liaison between the customer and Applied departments and associates. Requires in person customer interaction.
• Organize and conduct training sessions for customers; survey market and competitive conditions; complete itineraries, expense, sales calls, lead and other related reports and records; deliver orders as necessary.
• Monitor customer complaints, follow up on outstanding orders, make emergency calls, night calls, and deliveries as required.
• Work with service center and/or vendor representatives in local contacts with customers; call and collect on past-due accounts when necessary; keep abreast of customer plant equipment to ensure prompt response to potential needs.
• Assist inside personnel as occasion demands; participate in inventory taking, stock checking, and other routine internal activities. Attend training seminars, and service center sales meetings.
• Operate company vehicle; perform preventative maintenance necessary to ensure proper vehicle performance. Requires travel to customer locations.
• Responsible for procedures to ensure that transactions are executed in accordance with general or specific authorization. Maintain accurate, complete and timely records of business transactions.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Participate in formulating and successfully implementing goals and objectives.

Account Mgr I

• Access to assets within area of responsibility is permitted only in accordance with general or specific authorization.
• Work closely with other departments or divisions on matters of mutual concern and responsibilities.
• Write and deliver presentations and prepare reports as necessary.
• Perform other similar or related assignments as responsibilities dictate or as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of costing, pricing, sales practices and techniques.
• Familiar with product applications and customer relations.
• Ability to meet and deal with customers in an effective manner.
• Equivalent of two years of college.
• One year to three years’ sales experience.
