Regulatory Counsel

Overview

We are currently seeking a Regulatory Counsel within our Regulatory Affairs team, based in our HK office. In this role you will work closely with the APAC Head of Compliance and the Chief Regulatory Counsel (based in the US). The team supports a wide variety of regulatory and compliance matters across the firm and interfaces directly with trading, technology, operations and legal teams, as well as with external regulators, market participants and industry bodies across the APAC region.

 

In this role you will:

• Advise Susquehanna personnel on regulatory requirements across securities, derivatives, and futures markets in APAC jurisdictions, with a focus on trading and market structure matters — covering regulators including ASIC (Australia), SFC (Hong Kong), MAS (Singapore), FSC/FSS (Korea), FSA (Japan), and SEBI (India) as relevant
• Monitor and assess new and emerging regulations across APAC markets, advise staff on their implications for Susquehanna's business, and coordinate with the broader compliance department to implement or enhance existing frameworks
• Draft and maintain written supervisory procedures, compliance policies, and other regulatory documentation tailored to applicable APAC requirements
• Coordinate regulatory examinations and inquiries from APAC regulators, including responding to requests for information, trade data and communications
• Represent Susquehanna personnel in interviews, examinations and informal inquiries conducted by APAC regulators and enforcement bodies
• In conjunction with the Chief Regulatory Counsel will prepare employees in providing testimony in relation to regulatory proceedings.
• Coordinate with outside counsel across multiple APAC jurisdictions as needed
• Represent Susquehanna before APAC regulators, industry bodies and other parties on regulatory and market structure issues, including engagement with bodies such as ASIC, SFC and relevant industry associations
• Be a member of and coordinate with the global Regulatory Affairs team to ensure consistency across the firm

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 8 years of experience in providing guidance on regulatory and/or compliance matters, with direct exposure to trading and market structure issues involving one or more major APAC regulators (e.g. ASIC, SFC, MAS)
• Deep understanding of APAC securities and derivatives regulatory frameworks, including market integrity rules, short selling regimes, reporting obligations and licensing requirements across key jurisdictions
• Experience managing multi-jurisdictional regulatory matters and the ability to operate across APAC, partnering with global regulatory and compliance teams to ensure effective cross-border coordination
• Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree is required
