Job Summary:

The Senior Receiving Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating all cold storage receiving operations within a food manufacturing facility. This position oversees the receipt, inspection, documentation, handling, and storage of temperature-sensitive raw materials, ingredients, and finished goods while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, inventory control, and workplace safety standards.

The Senior Receiving Lead serves as the primary lead for the receiving team, ensuring product integrity throughout the cold chain, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production demands, and driving operational excellence in refrigerated and frozen warehouse environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must adhere to the following policies: Employee Safety, Food Safety, and all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Lead, coach, and develop receiving associates to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate daily staffing and receiving priorities based on production schedules and inbound deliveries.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for receiving issues and operational challenges.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the receipt of refrigerated and frozen ingredients, packaging materials, and other inbound inventory.
  • Verify quantities, product condition, lot numbers, expiration dates, and shipping documentation.
  • Ensure products are received and transferred to designated temperature-controlled storage locations promptly to maintain product integrity.
  • Monitor dock-to-storage times and ensure cold chain compliance at all times.
  • Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies, damages, shortages, and quality concerns.
  • Ensure accurate inventory transactions within ERP and warehouse management systems.
  • Maintain proper lot traceability and inventory records.
  • Enforce FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) inventory practices.
  • Monitor storage capacity and product rotation within refrigerated and frozen environments.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

  • 2+ years of warehouse, receiving, or inventory control experience within food manufacturing, cold storage, or refrigerated distribution.
  • 2+ years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of cold storage receiving and inventory management practices.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and temperature-controlled storage requirements.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and RF scanners.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and overtime as needed.
