The Director, Supply Chain Planning & Inventory Management is responsible for leading the company's Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process and driving enterprise-wide planning excellence across demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, and tactical purchasing for the Flow Systems Business Unit. This role ensures alignment between customer demand, inventory investments, production capabilities, and supplier execution to achieve service, cost, cash flow, and profitability objectives. The Director leads a team of planning and purchasing professionals and serves as a key cross-functional partner to Operations, Sourcing, Sales, Product Management, Finance, and Logistics. This position is accountable for balancing customer service, inventory optimization, capacity utilization, and supply continuity while developing scalable planning processes that support business growth.

  • SIOP Leadership: Own and lead the enterprise SIOP process, ensuring alignment between sales forecasts, operational capabilities, inventory strategies, and financial objectives; facilitate monthly executive SIOP reviews and drive decision-making related to demand, supply, capacity, inventory, and service trade-offs; develop planning scenarios and risk mitigation strategies to proactively address demand and supply variability; ensure business plans are translated into executable operational and purchasing plans

  • Demand & Supply Planning: Lead demand planning and forecast management processes, incorporating historical trends, market intelligence, commercial input, and business strategy; oversee supply planning activities to align production, inventory, and supplier capabilities with customer demand; establish planning policies and governance to improve forecast accuracy, schedule attainment, and customer service performance; drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase planning effectiveness and operational responsiveness

  • Inventory Management: Develop and execute inventory strategies that balance customer service requirements with working capital objectives; establish inventory targets, stocking policies, safety stock methodologies, and replenishment parameters; monitor inventory health, including excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and at-risk inventory; partner with Finance and Operations to reduce inventory risk while supporting growth and customer commitments; drive actions to improve inventory turns, cash flow, and service-level performance

  • Tactical Purchasing & Supplier Execution: Lead the tactical purchasing organization responsible for procurement execution and supplier order management; ensure timely placement and management of purchase orders to support production and customer requirements; monitor supplier performance, delivery commitments, and material availability to minimize supply disruptions; partner closely with Strategic Sourcing to support sourcing initiatives, supplier transitions, and risk mitigation activities; develop processes that improve purchasing efficiency, supplier communication, and material planning discipline

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, Product Management, Logistics, and Finance to ensure alignment across the end-to-end supply chain; support new product introductions, product lifecycle management, and demand transitions; lead efforts to identify and resolve supply chain constraints impacting customer service or operational performance; drive a customer-focused and data-driven culture that prioritizes enterprise results over functional optimization

  • Team Development: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing organization of planners, inventory managers, and buyers; establish clear performance expectations, development plans, and succession planning initiatives; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence; provide coaching and leadership to strengthen analytical and strategic planning capabilities across the team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible supply chain experience

  • 5+ years leading planning, inventory, purchasing, or supply chain teams

  • Demonstrated experience leading SIOP/S&OP processes in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong understanding of demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, MRP, and purchasing operations

  • Experience working with ERP and advanced planning systems

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive organizational alignment

  • APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP, CLTD) preferred

  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, Kinaxis, OMP, Blue Yonder, or similar planning platforms preferred

  • Experience managing both manufactured and externally sourced product portfolios preferred

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience preferred
