About Platinum Dental Services
Platinum Dental Services (PDS) supports approximately 50 dental offices across Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada, with roughly 700 team members relying on our technology every day.
Our IT team plays an essential role in keeping our practices connected, secure, and operational so our dental teams can stay focused on what matters most: providing excellent patient care.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Dental IT Specialist II to work closely with our IT Manager and help support the technology behind our growing network of dental practices.
This isn't a role where you'll simply work through a ticket queue all day.
The Dental IT Specialist II shares responsibility for the support queue with the IT Manager while taking meaningful ownership of tickets, projects, troubleshooting, and vendor communication.
The IT Manager will assign tasks, review work, and establish priorities, but we’re looking for someone who can independently think through problems, recommend solutions, and take action.
If you enjoy troubleshooting, solving complex problems, improving systems, and taking ownership of your work, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Do
Networking
- Manage and monitor networks using the UniFi dashboard.
- Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, and access points.
- Apply core IPv4 concepts to diagnose connectivity issues.
- Use command-line tools to test and troubleshoot network paths.
- Set up and maintain network isolation between clinical and guest traffic.
- Configure and support site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.
Servers & Active Directory
- Administer Windows Server 2019 and 2022 through Server Manager.
- Create, modify, and troubleshoot Active Directory accounts and Group Policy.
- Support Remote Desktop Services (RDS) sessions and access.
- Configure and maintain DNS and DHCP.
- Join computers to the domain and maintain the health of domain-joined machines.
Endpoint Management & Security
- Write and run scripts within NinjaRMM.
- Deploy and monitor patches across the fleet.
- Monitor and respond to alerts from SentinelOne or a similar endpoint security platform.
- Use AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms to improve documentation, scripting, and troubleshooting.
- Build small automations that eliminate repetitive manual work.
End-User Support & Ticketing
- Answer phone calls and Slack messages from team members across our offices.
- Manage support tickets from open through resolution.
- Resolve Tier 1 tickets requiring deeper troubleshooting.
- Escalate appropriate issues to the IT Manager with clear documentation of troubleshooting steps already completed.
- Communicate calmly, clearly, and professionally with end users.
What You’ll Need
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on IT support experience.
- Working knowledge of UniFi networking and core IPv4 concepts.
- Comfort using the command line for network diagnostics.
- Experience with VPNs and basic network segmentation.
- Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with RDS and joining and maintaining domain computers.
- Scripting and patch-management experience using NinjaRMM or a similar RMM platform.
- Experience with SentinelOne or another endpoint security platform.
- Working knowledge of AI tools such as Claude or Gemini for everyday IT work.
- Strong phone and chat communication skills when assisting non-technical team members.
- Experience working within a ticketing system, including proper escalation practices.
Nice to Have
Dental industry experience is a plus! We’d especially love to hear from candidates with experience in:
- Dental sensors, intraoral cameras, and Pano/CBCT machines.

- Dental practice management software (DPMS), including Open Dental, Dentrix, or Denticon.
- Multi-site or franchise IT environments.
- DPMS conversions and related projects.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
- Lift and carry IT equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, including desktop towers and network switches.
- Kneel, crouch, and reach when running cables or servicing equipment underneath desks and inside network closets.
