Assistant Produce Team Leader

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Assistant Produce Team Leader to join our team. This is a learning and development position designed for an individual who has a passion for produce and a strong desire to grow their knowledge and leadership skills. This role will assist the Produce Team Leader while developing experience in product sourcing, department management, quality control, inventory, merchandising, and customer service. This position plays an important role in supporting the success of the Produce Department while maintaining high standards for product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Produce Team Leader with the daily operations and management of the Produce Department.
- Learn and develop knowledge of produce sourcing, product selection, seasonality, and quality standards.
- Assist with inspecting produce for freshness, quality, appearance, and proper handling.
- Learn and assist with ordering, inventory management, product rotation, and maintaining appropriate product levels.
- Assist with maintaining attractive, well-stocked, and properly merchandised produce displays.
- Assist with training, supporting, and providing direction to Produce Department associates.
- Help monitor product quality, shrink, cleanliness, and overall department standards.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with produce-related questions and recommendations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in produce, grocery, or retail preferred.
- Basic understanding of produce products, quality, and department operations.
- Strong passion for learning and desire to continue developing knowledge and skills within the Produce Department.
- Strong interest in learning product sourcing, quality control, inventory management, and leadership.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and product quality.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a multi-temperature environment, including refrigerated areas.
