POSITION SUMMARY: The Drafting/Tooling Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining tooling, fixtures, and detailed technical drawings that support manufacturing operations. This role works closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure tools and designs meet performance, safety, and cost requirements.

- Create and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings for tooling, fixtures, components and shipping containers
- Design and engineer tooling solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and product engineering teams to understand tooling requirements and translate them into functional designs.
- Perform tolerance analysis, material selection, and manufacturability reviews.
- Support prototype builds and oversees fabrication, testing, and validation of new tooling.
- Update drawings and tooling designs based on engineering changes, feedback, or process improvements.
- Partner with suppliers and fabrication shops to ensure tools are manufactured to specifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Works in a manufacturing and inspection environment.
- Moderate walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching required.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
- Operates tools, equipment, and machinery in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Required to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Must follow established safety procedures.
- Responsible for correcting unsafe conditions when possible and reporting hazards to management or the Safety Committee immediately.
- Travel may be required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Drafting/Design Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo).
- Experience with tooling design, fixture development, or manufacturing engineering.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, mechanical drafting standards, and design-for-manufacture principles.
- Knowledge of machining processes, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Background in high-volume manufacturing or precision machining preferred
- Experience with lean manufacturing, process optimization, or automation preferred
- Familiarity with FEA or simulation tools is preferred.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
