Principal Engineer Role Overview:
The MPE Principal Engineer serves as a recognized subject matter expert and provides advanced technical leadership to the Engineering team. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence, supporting mid-level complexity projects, and mentoring next generation engineers. The Principal Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to drive risk management while fostering innovative solutions to meet business and customer solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the recognized technical authority and primary SME for MPE Processes (welding, NDT, castings, fabrications, and related manufacturing processes), setting standards and providing technical guidance to project teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to influence key engineering decisions.
• Lead end-to-end design, analysis, and implementation of engineering solutions for moderate-to-high complexity projects; own critical projects and technical deliverables that contribute to MPE team success.
• Review and approve supplier manufacturing processes and procedures for special processes (welding, NDT, casting, large fabrication/machining) across the region, ensuring alignment with SQDC culture.
• Partner with Design Engineering and Sourcing organizations to provide technical direction; identify technical risks, lead cross-functional problem resolution, and define effective system-level mitigations. Collaborate with SPEs in MPE.
• Reduce regional manufacturing quality issues by partnering with suppliers to strengthen process controls and capability.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, regulations, and industry trends; identify and propose new technologies in special process areas (e.g., welding) to drive cost reduction and quality improvement and establish new specifications for these processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements using Lean principles, data, and AI-enabled tools to enhance safety, quality, and cost performance.
• Mentor and coach developing engineers, support knowledge sharing, and help close skill gaps; lead development of technical standards, best practices, and a team culture that promotes inclusion, accountability, and high performance.

Qualifications:

• This role requires major experience in Engineering/Technology & Services Engineering.
• Minimum master’s degree in engineering
• Level III certification in NDT
• Globally recognized certification in welding
• Demonstrated expertise in the areas of welding, NDT, castings and fabrications.
• Demonstrated experience in working in the manufacturing sector and resolving technical challenges.
