Director, Outsource Accounting and Finance

The Bonadio Group is seeking a Director to join our Outsource Accounting & Finance team with a focus on serving Not-for-Profit (NFP) organizations. This position provides leadership and oversight of outsourced accounting and financial management services for multiple clients, serving as a trusted advisor and helping organizations strengthen their financial operations, reporting, and processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key financial advisor and relationship leader for a portfolio of Not-for-Profit clients, providing high-quality outsourced accounting and financial management services.
• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements, management reports, dashboards, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and other financial reporting.
• Provide guidance to clients on accounting processes, financial reporting, internal controls, and finance-related operational matters.
• Apply knowledge of Not-for-Profit accounting and reporting practices to a variety of client situations and organizational structures.
• Oversee and review general accounting activities, including account reconciliations, workpaper preparation, accounts payable, month-end close, and other accounting functions as needed.
• Assist clients in establishing, improving, and maintaining standardized accounting procedures, processes, and internal controls.
• Lead and oversee the onboarding of new clients, including assessing current accounting processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and coordinating implementation.
• Build strong relationships with client leadership and serve as a trusted resource for financial and operational matters.
• Manage multiple client engagements, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while maintaining a high level of client service.
• Lead, mentor, and develop team members, providing coaching, technical guidance, and oversight of client work.
• Effectively delegate work across engagement teams and monitor quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
• Provide training to clients and staff on shared accounting and technology applications.
• Utilize accounting technology and financial systems to improve efficiency, reporting, and client service.
• Manage unexpected or time-sensitive client and firm matters as they arise.
• Consistently achieve a high level of client satisfaction and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Outsource Accounting & Finance practice.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, with experience appropriate for a leadership-level role.
• Demonstrated experience working with Not-for-Profit organizations, including knowledge of NFP accounting, financial reporting, and financial operations.
• Experience managing multiple priorities, clients, projects, or financial functions simultaneously.
• Strong leadership experience, including the ability to mentor, develop, and oversee professional staff.
• Strong client service, relationship-management, communication, and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project-management capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively within tight deadlines and manage changing or urgent client priorities.

Preferred:

• Experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting, client accounting/advisory services, or a similar professional services environment.
• Experience serving in or supporting a Controller, Director of Finance, or similar financial leadership capacity for Not-for-Profit organizations.
• Experience with a range of accounting and financial technology platforms, including QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and similar applications.
• Experience identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, systems, and internal controls.
• CPA or other relevant professional certification.

The salary range for the role is : $105,000-$135,000

Hours of Operation

• Our office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
• Our summer hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Flex Friday scheduling available in accordance with firm policy and business needs
• We pride ourselves on our flexibility; however, the ability to work additional hours will be needed at peak times
