Position Summary
This position entails taking ownership of financial accounting and control tasks delegated by the finance Center of Excellence (CoE) to the subsidiaries of the London Stock Exchange Group. The role is deeply committed to handling centralized services for the Group, driving continuous improvement initiatives, encouraging resilience, and collaborating with key parties to seamlessly integrate new activities. The prospective candidate will play a pivotal role within the Finance CoE team, necessitating proficiency in project management, technical expertise, and the proactive management of crucial collaborator relationships.
Role Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely and accurate accounting of fixed asset transactions, including asset additions, transfers, retirements, depreciation, month-end close activities, and financial reporting across the Group.
- Manage the fixed asset register and ensure asset records are maintained accurately in line with Group accounting policies and reporting requirements.
- Perform periodic reviews of Work-in-Progress (WIP) balances, ensuring timely capitalization.
- Coordinate and support fixed asset verification exercises, asset existence checks, and the resolution of asset-related queries from stakeholders and entity controllers.
- Standardize and document processes to enhance operational resilience and drive continuous improvement and efficiency within the team.
- Lead the onboarding of new scope areas and align processes with the Target Operating Model (TOM).
- Build and maintain standardized training materials to support effective onboarding of new team members.
- Ensure compliance with Group policies, internal SOX controls, and established process frameworks to uphold robust financial governance.
- Deliver high-quality outputs under tight reporting timelines, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audit cycles, providing accurate and timely documentation (CAS).
- Support Group-wide initiatives, including the implementation of new systems and processes.
- Partner with Entity Accountants, Financial Controllers, Group Reporting, and Statutory Reporting teams as a key member of the Finance Centre of Excellence (CoE).
- Handle internal and external audit queries, ensuring accurate and complete supporting documentation is provided.
- Monitor the general mailbox and respond promptly to project-related queries.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Professional accounting qualification with at least 7 years of proven experience in general accounting.
- Candidates with part qualification or relevant degree and experience will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of fixed assets accounting principles, including asset capitalization, depreciation, asset transfers and disposals, month-end close activities, and financial reporting across multiple entities.
- Hands-on experience in asset capitalization within ERP systems, with added advantage if experienced in SAP/ Oracle Fusion.
- Proven track record to standardize, document, and improve financial processes to enhance operational resilience and drive efficiency.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion, SAP, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across finance, HR, and project teams.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
Strong background in:
- Financial accounting within a large organization.
- Solid understanding of core accounting concepts.
- Experience managing cross-geography relationships.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence in handling complex spreadsheets for accurate reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to standardize processes and documentation.
