Pacific Oaks College and Children’s School is recruiting an Enrollment Counselor for their campus in Pasadena, California.

About Pacific Oaks College and Children's School

Pacific Oaks College and Children's School, located in Pasadena, California, is a nonprofit institution rooted in Quaker values and a strong social justice heritage. The College offers bachelor’s, master’s, a doctorate, and certificate programs in education, human development, counseling, and related fields, while the Children’s School is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in anti-bias education, emergent curriculum, and peaceful conflict resolution. Together, they foster inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments that honor the unique potential of every individual. Employees join a mission-driven community committed to respect, diversity, social justice, and lifelong learning.

About the Position

Pacific Oaks College is seeking an accomplished, highly motivated Senior Enrollment Counselor to join our Admissions team at our Pasadena, CA campus. In this vital role, you will serve as a primary ambassador and consultative advisor to prospective students, guiding adult and non-traditional learners through the admissions and enrollment process from initial inquiry to matriculation. You will manage an active recruitment territory, drive key institutional enrollment goals, and deliver a student-centered admissions experience aligned with our mission of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

As a senior member of the admissions team, this position goes beyond direct recruitment to serve as a departmental subject matter expert and peer leader. The ideal candidate brings extensive enrollment experience paired with strong leadership potential; someone skilled in navigating complex applicant files, optimizing outreach strategies, and providing intentional mentorship, onboarding support, and guidance to fellow counselors. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced admissions professional looking to leverage their expertise, foster team-wide excellence, and make a lasting impact within a mission-driven community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full student recruitment lifecycle by conducting high-volume, consultative outreach (calls, emails, SMS) and individualized admissions interviews to guide prospective students from inquiry through matriculation.
  • Provide intentional peer coaching, onboarding support, and day-to-day guidance to newer Enrollment Counselors to ensure team-wide consistency, high outreach standards, and operational excellence.
  • Partner closely with Admissions leadership on team performance monitoring, training material development, and strategic initiatives in preparation for stepping into an Admissions Manager capacity within 6–8 months.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on specialized academic programs and complex admissions requirements, resolving high-priority student inquiries and enrollment hurdles with sound professional judgment.
  • Work collaboratively with Financial Aid, the Registrar, and Academic Advising to streamline transfer processes, resolve processing bottlenecks, and deliver an exceptional, seamless prospective student experience.
  • Accurately track all pipeline activities, lead statuses, and touchpoints in CRM and student information systems (Salesforce and CampusVue), utilizing data insights and "speed to lead" best practices to optimize conversion and yield metrics.
  • Represent Pacific Oaks College by coordinating and leading virtual and on-campus information sessions, webinars, and yield events to drive interest and community engagement.

Note: While this list captures the core focus of the position, we look forward to sharing the full scope of responsibilities with finalists during our interview stages.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
    • A combination of education and/or related technical or professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in admissions, enrollment management, or high-level consultative recruitment.
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently exceeding enrollment targets and managing complex applicant scenarios.
  • Experience in a lead or mentor capacity, with the ability to guide peers and improve team performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of direct experience in college admissions or recruitment, specifically with adult or non-traditional learners.
  • Advanced proficiency in utilizing CRM software (Salesforce) and student information systems (Campus Vue) to manage a pipeline.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding individual recruitment or sales goals.
  • Knowledge of federal financial aid processes and higher education enrollment cycles.
  • Experience conducting public presentations or facilitating group information sessions.
