SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Medical Director, Primary Care, the Associate Medical Director, Primary Care with Sexual & Reproductive Health Focus, provides clinical care and medical leadership in support of Signature Health’s Primary Care department. In partnership with the Medical Director, the Associate Medical Director advances consistent, evidence-based, patient-centered standards of care across the organization. The role also serves as the clinical lead for Sexual & Reproductive Health, providing subject matter expertise in evidence-based care, Title X compliance, and the delivery of equitable, trauma-informed services. The Associate Medical Director collaborates with and seeks consultation from the Medical Director, Sexual & Reproductive Health, who provides specialized clinical expertise and guidance in support of the program. This role works collaboratively with other clinical leaders to facilitate a cross-discipline team approach to medical care.


HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED_________________________________________________________________

  • Effectively manage and oversee the daily objectives of primary care providers, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Serve as organizational clinical champion for Sexual & Reproductive Health.
  • Oversee primary care providers’ performance, fostering a culture of excellence and supporting professional development through coaching, mentoring, and goal setting.
  • Lead provider education related to contraception, breast and cervical cancer screening, STI management, pregnancy options counseling, prenatal care, and trauma-informed and inclusive care.
  • Provide consultation for complex reproductive health cases and mentor clinicians in office procedures consistent with privileging.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among multidisciplinary team members.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, onboarding, and evaluation of primary care providers.
  • Contribute to implementation of Signature Health’s Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Monitor and evaluate primary care practices, processes, and programs for quality and effectiveness, and develop plans for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain evidence-based clinical protocols and standardized workflows.
  • Lead Title X clinical quality activities and regulatory readiness.
  • Monitor changes in federal and state regulations affecting sexual and reproductive health programs, including Title X and 340B, and lead implementation of operational and clinical changes necessary to maintain compliance.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support audits, quality reviews, grant requirements, and the successful administration of Title X, Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention project, and other state and federally funded reproductive health programs.
  • Actively lead team meetings and process improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Promote collaboration to achieve integrated care across departments and specialties, with a focus on behavioral health integration and trauma-informed practices.
  • Oversee the peer review process for primary care providers, including making recommendations for credentialing and privileging actions.
  • Support the Medical Director, Primary Care in strategic planning and program development.
  • Participate in budget planning and management for the Primary Care and Sexual & Reproductive Health departments.
  • Participate in preparation for compliance reviews (e.g., HRSA Operational Site Visits, NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home, Reproductive Health & Wellness Program (Title X)).
  • Review and respond as appropriate to medical incidents occurring in the medical department.
  • Assist with oversight of student rotations for medical, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant students, and medical residents as requested.
  • Represent Signature Health in community collaboration opportunities as requested.
  • Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support for patients with primary care conditions in outpatient settings.
  • Practice in accordance with all patient care policies and procedures of Signature Health.
  • Provide on-call coverage for after-hours emergencies and critical lab values as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned as Signature Health expands its scope and services.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE___________________________________________________________

  • Active and unrestricted medical license as a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant within the state of Ohio (MD, DO, APN, or PA).
  • If physician or nurse practitioner, board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Women’s Health, OB/GYN). If physician assistant, completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). 
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably within a Community Mental Health Center and/or Federally Qualified Health Center.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Sexual & Reproductive Health, including contraception with proficiency in IUD and contraceptive implant procedures, prenatal care, breast and cervical cancer screening, STI care, and Title X principles preferred.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Active DEA license required.
  • Previous leadership or administrative experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong commitment to Signature Health’s mission and vision.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.


WORKING CONDITIONS________________________________________________________________

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment, and may require on-call, evenings and weekends.
  • Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.  
  • Hearing: adequate to hear individuals in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Speaking: adequate to speak to individuals in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
