About Foundational Learning at CSF
The Foundational Learning (FL) team drives CSF's mission to ensure that all children in India achieve
foundational literacy and numeracy by Grade 3.
We collaborate with state and district governments to:
- Support the design and implementation of comprehensive Foundational Learning Missions aligned with NIPUN Bharat.
- Strengthen teacher capacity, academic design, and monitoring systems to improve classroom practice.
- Build district and state delivery capacity through Project Management Units (PMUs).
- Leverage data and technology for evidence-based decision-making and targeted interventions.
- Drive EdTech adoption and innovation for in-class and at-home learning.
Our teams work across multiple states, supporting governments to translate strategy into execution and ensuring that every reform results in tangible learning gains for children.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Data Reporting & Analysis
- Provide executive data reporting to senior leadership (Director, AD) on KPIs across all states.
- Analyse data received from state teams, make sense of it, and create useful insights for the Director as well as actionable points for state teams.
- Support the process of data collection and reporting.
Strategic Project Leadership
Lead strategic projects that cut across and can find application in many states, such as Middle Management Capacity Building (modules, delivery platform, and execution), Teacher Motivation (through behavioural science), and Assessments.
Research Support
- Support action research, longitudinal research, and other quantitative and qualitative studies as needed across academic and governance workstreams.
- Examples include: Teaching Learning Practices study (longitudinal); MGML lesson plans (action research); School report cards (action research); Time on Task study.
Need-Based State Support
Provide need-based support to any state work, which may include part ownership and delivery of work products, handling stakeholders, or travel for workshops, stakeholder/team meetings, etc.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to synthesize and make sense of large amounts of data and report it in a structured, meaningful way.
- Ability to use technology, AI, or other statistical tools.
- Strong track record of ownership of projects/programs, not just tasks.
- Ability to convene and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Ability to work in ambiguity and with minimal supervision.
- Good background in statistics and business/social research.
- Experience with different research methods and demonstrated ability in either quantitative or qualitative methods.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Flexibility in managing core work alongside additional requests.
- Resourcefulness.
