Description
Location: Camarillo, CA
Job Summary:
The Test Technician provides hands-on support for ATE-based production and characterization testing of System Protection integrated circuits. This role operates and maintains automated test equipment and associated test hardware in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) and Reliablity testing activities. The Test Technician works closely with Test Engineers and Product Engineers to set up test environments, execute test programs, collect data, and escalate anomalies — contributing directly to product quality and on-time NPI milestones for System protection devices.
Responsibilities:
Operate ATE platforms (Teradyne J750/UltraFLEX, Advantest V93000) for final test of System Protection ICs; load and execute test programs under engineer direction.
Set up, qualify, and maintain test sockets, REL setups, perform contact verification, seating checks, and REL setup qualification procedures.
Support NPI test bring-up activities including test socket installation, DUT board setup, and first silicon test runs alongside Test Engineers.
Collect, log, and perform basic review of test data; identify contact failure patterns and yield excursions; escalate anomalies to engineering.
Assemble and rework PCBs and test boards; perform soldering, socket replacement, and minor load board repairs to maintain test hardware uptime.
Execute ORT (ongoing reliability test) and SMT process setups; support reliability test loading and sample preparation under engineering supervision.
Maintain test area compliance with ESD control protocols, 5S standards, and equipment PM schedules; document maintenance activities per SOPs.
Create and update work instructions, test logs, and equipment maintenance records; support test documentation in the phase review system
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent vocational/trade school certification or military electronics training accepted in lieu of degree.
Qualifying experience should include the following areas:
Hands-on experience operating ATE platforms (Teradyne J750/UltraFLEX, Advantest V93000, or similar); ability to load and execute test programs, navigate tester software, and respond to test failures
Familiarity with parametric test concepts for discrete analog/protection devices: breakdown voltage (Vbr), leakage current (Ir/Ioff), forward voltage (Vf), junction capacitance (Cj), and clamping voltage
ESD handling and static control practices; ability to work in a compliant ESD-controlled environment per ANSI/ESD S20.20
PCB assembly and soldering skills; experience with through-hole and SMD rework for test board and load board maintenance
Basic data review skills: ability to read bin summaries, identify contact failure signatures, and flag yield anomalies for engineer review
Ability to follow and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and equipment PM logs; comfort with documentation in a phase review or quality system
Familiarity with reliability test environments (HTOL, THB, TC boards) and sample preparation for REL loading
Strong attention to detail and consistent adherence to ESD, 5S, and safety protocols
Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to escalate issues clearly to engineering staff
Willingness to work flexible shifts and support production or NPI builds as needed
Willingness to work as part of a collaborative engineering team and grow technical skills over time
1+ years of experience in a semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, or ATE environment preferred
Willingness to become part of a dynamic engineering team that values growth and innovation of both products and individuals
Must have good oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
All of the above qualifications
2+ years of hands-on ATE experience in a semiconductor test environment (final test, wafer sort, or reliability)
Experience with Semtech System Protection device families (HotSwitch) or equivalent IC products
Familiarity with OSAT/back-end test flow: wafer sort, final test, ORT, and reliability board loading at subcontractors
IPC-610 certification (inspection and workmanship)
Experience with strip test or singulated device handling for small-outline packages (SOT, DFN, QFN)
Exposure to automotive product quality requirements (AEC-Q100) and associated test documentation
Basic scripting or data automation skills (Python, Excel macros) for test data logging or report generation
