Work Shift
Day (United States of America)Wellstar Medical Group is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Pediatrics After Hours team. This position provides high-quality, patient-centered care to pediatric patients with acute illnesses and minor injuries during evenings, weekends, and holiday hours. The APP will collaborate with pediatricians, clinical staff, and operational leaders to ensure timely access to care while delivering an exceptional patient and family experience.

Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients presenting with acute illnesses, minor injuries, and urgent medical concerns.
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and manage appropriate diagnostic testing and imaging.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians as appropriate.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, follow-up care, and preventive health measures.
- Identify patients requiring escalation of care and coordinate referrals to emergency departments, specialists, or hospital services when appropriate.
- Document encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards.
- Support a positive patient experience through compassionate, family-centered care.
Required Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current Georgia APRN licensure or eligibility.
- National certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or other applicable certification.
- Current DEA registration or eligibility.
- Current BLS and PALS certification.
Physician Assistant
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current Georgia Physician Assistant license or eligibility.
- NCCPA certification.
- Current DEA registration or eligibility.
- Current BLS and PALS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one to three years of pediatric, pediatric urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care experience.
- Experience managing pediatric acute care conditions independently.
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
