Market Access - Contract Operations Specialist

This is what you will do:

The Primary objective of the US Market Access Operations Specialist is to support critical operational and compliance activities within US Market Access. This role is responsible for supporting dispute resolution, developing and maintaining SOPs, tracking operational recoveries, ensuring adherence to SOX compliance requirements, participating in audit and validation activities in partnership with Government Pricing, and Government-related processes. The role also contributes to work related to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and helps maintain compliant business pricing terms and agreement insights. The position helps ensure operational accuracy, compliance, and effective execution across market access processes and cross-functional stakeholders.

This role is based in Alexion’s Boston headquarters and reports to the Director, Contract Operations.

You will be responsible for:

• Operational dispute resolution: Support the identification, investigation, documentation, and resolution of market access operational disputes to help ensure issues are addressed accurately and in a timely manner.

• SOX compliance support: Follow established internal controls, maintain required documentation, and assist with periodic reviews to help ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory expectations.

• Payment approvals coordination: Accelerate internal approvals, trouble-shoot payment related issues internally and externally.

• Vendor and customer system setup assistance and validating and tracking of vendor invoices to budget.

• Tricare, VA IFF and Government Pricing process support: Provide assistance with data review, pricing and process coordination, checklists and reconciliation activities, and issue follow-up to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.

• Audit readiness and support: Prepare documentation, gather records, respond to information requests, and support internal and external audit activities, including remediation follow-up where applicable.

• Government Pricing validation support: Partner with Government Pricing to review data inputs, assist with reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and help confirm that pricing-related operational processes align with business and compliance requirements.

• IRA operational support: Contribute to activities related to the Inflation Reduction Act by supporting data review, process coordination, and implementation efforts tied to evolving requirements.

• Agreement insights: Assist in reviewing contract-related information, identifying trends or issues, and supporting stakeholders with operational insights that improve execution, compliance, and decision-making.

• Maintain and update approved Executive Pricing Committee (EPC) and Advanced Customer Engagement Review Team (ACERT) business case records on a regular basis.

• Maintain the U.S. WAC Launch Price and U.S. WAC Price Change SOPs. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to create or assess required changes and ensure the SOPs remain current, accurate, and aligned with applicable business and governance requirements.

You will need to have:

• 3+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, economics, or related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.

• Experience in market access, government pricing, pharmaceutical contracting, SOX controls, or other regulated operational environments is preferred.

• Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with data validation, process documentation, and operational reporting are helpful.

• Core capabilities: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a compliance focused environment.

• Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.

• Ability to prioritize and multi-task various types of payments timely while ensuring accuracy.

• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint required; SAP preferred

• Strong analytical, problem solving, judgement and decision-making skills.

• Demonstrates integrity, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment requiring excellent communication skills.

• Must be detail oriented and manage workload to specific deadlines.

• Remains flexible and adaptive to changing business requirements and processes.

• The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. We would prefer you to have:

• Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry with knowledge around Commercial Contracting and Government Price reporting preferred.

• Good working knowledge of various Contracting and Rebate payment systems preferred.

• Compliance mindset: Demonstrates a strong commitment to accuracy, documentation, internal controls, and process discipline.

• Collaboration: Works effectively with stakeholders across Market Access, Government Pricing, Finance, Compliance, and other relevant teams.

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $81,593 to $122,389. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
