Kleinfelder's Ontario, CA office is seeking a Special Inspector/Materials Testing Technician to join our Southern California team. We provide construction inspection and material testing services to a broad range of local and national clients. We are looking for individuals who are interested in joining a dynamic team and building their career in the field of construction inspection and materials testing. We're looking for a person with strong initiative, who will perform routine to complex inspection and testing of construction materials in the field to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications. The technician will prepare daily reports and data sheets and may be called upon to perform various tasks at the discretion of their supervisor. 

 

Mandatory Position Requirements 

• Willingness to travel throughout California (50% travel expected)
• Ability to work/stay out of town as needed to service project workloads
• 2+ years of soil, asphalt, and reinforced concrete testing and inspection experience
• Radiation safety training for the operation of a nuclear density gauge
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 certification
• ICC Reinforced Concrete certification

In addition to the above requirements, hiring preference with be given to those with any of the following desired certifications:

• Additional ICC certifications
• CWI certification

 Desired Skills

• Demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team
• Excellent organizational and communication skills both written and verbal
• Must be able to use a computer and/or iPad and have a general knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and photo management software
• Ability to learn and grow with technological demands pertaining to daily field reports and field data

The successful candidate will be encouraged to expand their skills and certifications through company provided training and mentoring. Must have own vehicle, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record is required. Must be willing to travel extensively throughout California. 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. 

 

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

Benefits: Kleinfelder, and its’ subsidiaries and affiliates, offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Pay Range: $35 - $45/hr.
