The Opportunity
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Skild AI, you will own electrical system integration across our robotics platforms. You will serve as a key player in end-to-end electronics design, bridging the gap between software/firmware and physical kinematic motion and control.
In this role, you will act as the internal subject matter expert for grounding, shielding, filtering, signal integrity, wireless integration, and EMC from concept through production. This is a hands-on technical ownership role for an engineer who excels at making pragmatic, system-level tradeoffs as requirements evolve — balancing electrical performance, mechanical constraints, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, test, and validate core power electronics, motor driver circuits, and sensor systems integrated directly into custom robot platforms
- Integrate and fuse sensor data at the PCB level, including IMUs, encoders, hall sensors, and temperature sensors
- Define and own the overarching strategy for grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, and cabling across the entire robotic architecture
- Identify EMC/EMI risks early in the development lifecycle and implement practical, cost-effective mitigations before late-stage production
- Debug complex hardware and EMC issues in the lab using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, probes, LISNs, and network analyzers
- Make system-level tradeoffs across performance, risk, cost, schedule, and manufacturability without over-optimizing individual components
- Partner cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, controls, systems, and manufacturing teams, as well as external test labs and consultants
- Document design processes, establish hardware best practices, and build rapid test fixtures to accelerate hardware validation
You Should Have\
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field, along with hands-on industry experience taking hardware from concept through validation and production
- Deep, hands-on experience with EMC/EMI design, debugging, testing, and standard lab equipment on complex hardware platforms
- Strong technical mastery of grounding, shielding, filtering, signal integrity, power integrity, and analog circuit design
- Proficiency in power electronics design, motor drive circuits, switching power supplies, high-current DC systems, and battery management systems
- Strong knowledge of sensor integration (IMUs, encoders, hall sensors, cameras) and communication protocols (GMSL, CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, RS-485)
- Advanced PCB design and layout skills with a system-level approach to solving EMC and signal integrity challenges
- Familiarity with RF systems, antenna integration, wireless coexistence, and impedance control
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to make sound engineering decisions under incomplete or shifting requirements
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range of $180,000 – $240,000 USD plus competitive equity packages.
