About the Job:
The Academic Education Specialist role is a strategic partnership between the Hospital and Partner College to increase student capacity, strengthen the clinical education pipeline, and enhance the workforce pipeline into the hospital. The individual will serve as a hospital-based faculty member who supports student clinical placements in the hospital and oversees nursing clinical placements to expand opportunities and strengthen the learning environment. The Academic Education Specialist will act as a facilitator of learning and serve as a change agent, mentor, leader, champion of scientific inquiry, and a partner for practice transition. This role will use tools, theories, skills, and knowledge of academic and nursing professional development specialties to support the clinical rotations of nursing students.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the hospital and affiliated nursing schools, coordinating clinical placements, faculty partnerships, and student learning experiences.
- Collaborate with academic and hospital leaders to schedule clinical rotations, ensure preceptor coverage, and align educational objectives with clinical practice.
- Oversee Clinical Instructor Partners and supervise student clinical experiences to ensure compliance with program standards and organizational policies.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with nursing programs to expand placement opportunities and support student-to-employee recruitment pipelines.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document student performance, clinical competencies, program outcomes, satisfaction metrics, hiring results, and retention data.
- Promote a positive clinical learning environment that supports effective teaching, student development, and professional growth.
- Maintain faculty credentials and participate in professional development, educational activities, meetings, and departmental initiatives.
- Communicate student performance concerns, attendance issues, and program updates with faculty, coordinators, and hospital leadership.
- Support onboarding, training, competency validation, and other Clinical Education and Professional Development activities as needed.
- Exercise independent judgment in managing complex responsibilities, adapting procedures, handling competing priorities, and maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Who You Are:
- Master of Science in Nursing required.
- Current New Hampshire or multistate licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Life support authorization (BLS) required.
- Professional specialty certification is preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ preceptor and medical-surgical RN experience. Teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to advance basic computer skills as the health system adds new systems or performs upgrades to existing systems.
- Ability to present content in multimodal ways. Ability to work independently and multitask in a high-paced environment on tight timelines.
