Position Summary:
Curiosity Guides are responsible for providing interactive experiences for Imagine Children's Museum guests. They create immersive and engaging activities for children and adults visiting the Museum or participating in off-site programming and events. This position involves delivering informal interactions, activating exhibits, and conducting tours. Curiosity Guides may also perform as costumed characters, engage in music and storytelling activities and stage shows, and participate in various on-site events and community events.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Interact with visitors in a friendly, professional manner and deliver exemplary customer service.
- Maintains general knowledge of all Museum exhibits and in-depth knowledge of interpretation programs for designated exhibits.
- Remain visible and approachable in designated exhibits. Answer visitors’ questions and resolve concerns quickly and tactfully.
- Knows and adheres to museum policies and procedures. Responds to visitors' needs for locating lost children and administering first aid.
- Completes training in Imagine Children’s Museum standards of excellence in interpretation. Attends all training sessions and learns exhibit activation content, activities, scripts and facilitated programs.
- Presents programs and interacts directly with visitors, including setting up and taking down sets, props and seating, gathering audiences and conducting post-performance discussions.
- Maintains cleanliness of costumes and uniforms and notifies the Public Programs Coordinator of more extensive needs.
- Maintains daily audience attendance records and reports these numbers to the Public Programs Coordinator.
- Maintains a high level of content knowledge for each exhibit to provide high-quality experiences both formally and informally.
- Interacts with visitors to help them understand exhibit concepts and content. Implements educational interpretive experiences in all assigned exhibits to achieve the exhibit's goals and objectives and help explain the main messages and exhibit concepts to visitors.
Requirements

- Proven strong presentation and customer service skills. Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to present information clearly and confidently to visitors.
- Experience working with children and youth in formal and informal environments.
- Excellent critical thinking and judgment skills.
- Ability to connect with people of varying abilities and diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Ability to be flexible and focus on solution-building.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Complete basic First Aid training.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year customer service experience.
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting in another museum or cultural institution, preschool or daycare, after school, summer camp or other family-oriented setting preferred.
- Theater experience is helpful but not required.

This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week, onsite in Everett. The pay is $21.50 an hour. Ability to work weekends and evenings on Saturday and Sunday until 9:30pm is a must for events.
