We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced professional to join our growing organization at GE Vernova's Advanced Research Center in Malta, NY. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of facility systems and infrastructure within our operations, ensuring the facility runs safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all EHS permits and policies. The successful candidate will serve as a key partner to our research community, helping ensure work is planned and executed the right way — with safety as a non-negotiable foundation. This role carries budget responsibility for facilities and EHS functions supporting our dynamic operations and supports the full project lifecycle from initial scoping through successful delivery.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Facilities Operations
- Oversee day-to-day facility operations ensuring systems, infrastructure, and equipment within our occupied space are maintained and functioning reliably
- Serve as the primary point of contact for facility needs, coordinating with internal teams, external service providers, and building ownership as appropriate
- Plan, schedule, and monitor preventive maintenance compliance with a focus on EHS-critical assets, and support the development and roll-out of a new CMMS for the Advanced Research Center
- Manage the facilities and EHS operating budget, tracking spend, forecasting needs, and identifying cost optimization opportunities
- Participate in the GE Vernova Advanced Research Center emergency response organization
- Coordinate with building management on shared infrastructure, tenant responsibilities, and facility-related communications to ensure alignment and protect GE Vernova's operational interests
- Lead facility projects from initial scoping and bid development through vendor selection, construction execution, and formal handoff to the research team, ensuring all work is delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget
Strategic Planning
- Support facilities engineering with space and infrastructure planning, ensuring facility constraints, lease boundaries, and system limitations are well understood by stakeholders
- Leverage technical expertise to help the engineering and research teams understand asset capability and how it impacts research operations
EHS Compliance & Partnership
- Ensure adherence to all applicable EHS permits, regulations, and GE Vernova policies as a daily operational priority
- Serve as the EHS focal point, ensuring proper implementation of the GE Vernova Life Saving Rules and compliance with all internal and external requirements
- Champion a proactive safety culture by partnering with researchers and technical staff to ensure safety is embedded into all work from concept through execution
- Support proactive hazard identification, risk assessment, and safe work planning across facility operations and construction activities
- Maintain deep working knowledge of EHS protocols for facilities operations and project execution, including confined space entry and rescue procedures
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related technical field
- In lieu of degree: High School Diploma/ GED AND 25+ years of directly relevant experience in industrial or research facility operations
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in an industrial, research, or technical facility environment
- Demonstrated experience managing facility operations, budgets, and project execution
- History of successful partnership with technical or research teams in a complex facility environment
- Experience managing contractors and vendors through a full project lifecycle
- Emergency Response Team participation preferred
Skills
- Strong knowledge of facilities maintenance, project execution, and building/industrial systems
- Solid understanding of EHS requirements including OSHA, NFPA, and applicable EPA and state regulations
- Demonstrated technical aptitude working on large and complex equipment including air compressors, combustion equipment, and utility systems
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate requirements to field construction
- Strong budget management and financial accountability
- Excellent communication and partnership skills across all levels of the organization — including PhD-level researchers and frontline technicians
- Experience coordinating within a leased or shared-occupancy environment, including working with landlords, property managers, and shared building systems, preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and competing deadlines

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $85,500.00 and $142,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
