Job Description:
Role Summary:
The Per Diem Oncology Infusion Nurse Consultant reports to the Director, Clinic Operations and is part of the Clinical Team at OneOncology. This individual serves as a clinic subject matter expert supporting oncology practices with infusion operations, workflow optimization, staff education, and clinical best practices in addition to electronic medical record implementation. The role provides onsite and remote consulting services to oncology practices requiring clinical support, operational assessments, onboarding assistance, Go-Live support, and workflow standardization. The ideal candidate possesses extensive oncology infusion nursing experience, strong knowledge of chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, proficiency in ONCOEMR and the ability to travel to practice nationwide.
Responsibilities:
Infusion Services Optimization:
- Provide infusion center support and consultation to outpatient oncology infusion centers.
- Assess infusion workflows and recommend operation improvement to enhance patient safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Support implementation of oncology best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with pharmacy and clinical teams to optimize infusion workflows and medication administration process.
- Assist with the evaluation and implementation of infusion related equipment and technologies.
ONCO EMR Support and Optimization:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Infusion workflow optimization
- Assist practices with ONCOEMR workflow design, implementation, and adoption.
- Provide end user training for Infusion team members.
- Support ONCOEMR GO LIVES, upgrades, and conversions.
- Assist with clinical documentation workflows, treatment plan management, ordering and scheduling workflows, and nursing documentation.
Quality and Compliance:
- Promote compliance with ONS standards, state nursing regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits as needed.
- Participate in root cause analysis, workflow reviews, and corrective action planning when requested.
- Support safe handling and administration of anti-neoplastic agents.
- Work with clinical and operational leaders to promote evidence-based oncology nursing practice.
Education and Training:
- Train staff as needed on chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and infusion related best practices.
- Provide support during new practice integrations and operational transitions.
- Subject matter expert within ONCO EMR.

Required or Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Current unrevoked/unrestricted RN license in home state.
- BSN or Masters prepared RN.
- OCN certification preferred.
- ONCOEMR experience a Must.
- Charge nurse or nursing management experience preferred.
- Experience in ambulatory oncology or infusion center operations.
- Experience working across multiple clinical sites within a healthcare structure is preferred.
- 3 + years management or leadership experience in the outpatient oncology setting.
- Experience in identifying process inefficiencies, implementing process improvements, and driving operational excellence is highly desirable.
Essential Competencies:
- Strong critical thinking skills: ability to develop solutions and address operational needs throughout oncology practice.
- Demonstrates initiative as a self-starter who can think independently and work comfortably with ambiguity.
- Effective communication skills (verbal/written/listening).
- Working knowledge of OncoEMR.
- Attendance is an essential job function.
