Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to Quality Systems Regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes)
Project Development
Core Responsibility
•Manage multiple complex projects from inception to completion
• Communicate barriers of project development; lead time, technical issues,
tooling/equipment, ect. to customers and internal stakeholders
• Quote and track engineering hours for development projects
• Create supporting documents for manufacturability of product; product
specifications, quality plans, work instructions, ect.
• Validate manufacturing process and labor standards for new products
• Draft validation reports for customer approval
• Assist with tooling and fixture design and creation
• Assist with building prototypes, QRM builds, and testing of engineering products
Customer Design Assistance
Core Responsibility
• Assist customer as a technical resource
• Aid in bringing conceptual ideas to a producible product
• Identify manufacturing issues with proposed designs and specifications
• Work with suppliers to specify appropriate components
Engineering Documentation
Core Responsibility
• Support Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
• Review and act on ECO requests
• Update documentation and ERP with requested changes
• Review prints to ensure manufacturability and component compatibility
Sales Support
Core Responsibility
• Participate in pre-sales technical discussions with customers
• Provide component cross options to the company's distribution lines
• Help build strategic relationships with customers
• Gather information to estimate costs related to the product
Quote Support
Secondary Responsibility
• Review customer prints and specifications
• Develop cost estimates for new opportunities, as well as assist in cost accuracy in
product requotes
• Identify large sales opportunities and provide insight on future manufacturing
resources needed to meet customer requirements
Production Support
Secondary Responsibility
• Validate manufacturing process and time standards before releasing project to
Production Team
• Help ensure a seamless transition of new products to production
• Receive feedback from Production Team on process improvements
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to stay organized, meet cost and time budgets on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to perform complex mathematical operations and interpret graphs.
• Knowledge of mechanical parts/assemblies, mechanisms, wiring, connectors, etc.
• Must excel at working in a team environment.
• Established ability to participate as a team member or leader in cross-functional groups, including external customers.
• Familiar with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and electro-mechanical product specifications.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office and an ERP system.
• Use tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to gather, analyze and present data.
Qualifications:
Minimum
• BA/BS in Engineering, technical field, or combination of education and equivalent successful experience in a similar role.
• Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD Fusion or Visio.
• Strong background in assembly processes and manufacturing flow.
Preferred:
• 2 years of experience as an engineer at a manufacturing facility.
• ECI M1 experience.
• Additional experience with wires and cable harnesses.
• Ability to diagnose and repair equipment failures
