Intermediate Software Engineer – MEAN Stack / Node.js
Location: Durbanville, Cape Town – Hybrid
Office Requirement: 3 days per week in-office
Salary: R60,000+ per month

The development team is growing and they are looking for an Intermediate Software Engineer to join Gerhard's team and contribute to the continued development of the platform.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced Intermediate Developer who is ready to take ownership, work with a modern technology stack and grow within a highly hands-on engineering environment.
You won't be joining a large corporate development department where every task is meticulously defined. Wyzetalk is looking for someone who can think for themselves, solve problems and get things done.
You will work primarily across the MEAN stack, with exposure to Node.js, MongoDB, Angular and Bun, while also working with integrations and modern development practices.
AI is increasingly becoming part of the development workflow, so an interest in AI-assisted development and AI coding tools will be highly valuable.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software solutions across the MEAN stack.
- Build and maintain backend services using Node.js.
- Develop frontend functionality using Angular.
- Work with MongoDB and related data structures.
- Work with Bun across relevant applications.
- Develop and maintain APIs and integrations.
- Assist with enterprise and ERP system integrations.
- Investigate bugs and technical issues.
- Contribute to technical design and solution development.
- Take ownership of assigned features from development through to completion.
- Collaborate with Senior Developers and the wider development team.
- Contribute to code reviews and development standards.
- Learn and apply AI-assisted development techniques.
- Use AI tools and prompting where appropriate to improve development efficiency.
- Continuously develop your technical skills and knowledge.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Commercial software development experience.
- 2–5 years' relevant software development experience.
- Strong Node.js experience.
- Good JavaScript and/or TypeScript experience.
- Experience with MongoDB.
- Experience with Angular.
- Experience working with the MEAN stack.
- Experience developing APIs.
- Good understanding of software development principles.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently while still being a strong team player.
- Comfortable learning new technologies and approaches.
- Interest in AI-assisted development and modern AI coding tools.
Advantageous
