Description
You are:
A product-minded problem solver who connects mission needs, user value, stakeholder priorities, and technical delivery. You bring together product management, business analysis, and Agile delivery skills to help teams decide what to build, why it matters, and how to deliver the highest-value outcomes for federal clients. This capability posting is designed for candidates who may be building their product-management foundation or already be ready to independently own a product area, backlog, feature set, or stakeholder workstream. As your experience grows, you may define broader product vision and roadmaps, lead cross-team prioritization, mentor product practitioners, and influence portfolio-level product decisions.
The work:
- Discover and clarify mission, user, stakeholder, operational, and business needs through interviews, workshops, analysis, and collaboration.
- Translate needs into product goals, roadmaps, epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog items, and release priorities.
- Support or lead backlog refinement, sprint/PI planning, product discovery, stakeholder alignment, demos, and decision-making activities.
- Use product metrics, customer insights, delivery data, and prioritization frameworks to make tradeoff recommendations and communicate rationale.
- Partner closely with Digital Experience Engineers, Business Application Engineers, Quality Engineers, platform teams, architects, design partners, and delivery leaders.
- Help teams maintain alignment between product outcomes, technical feasibility, user value, quality, delivery constraints, and federal mission priorities.
- Facilitate collaboration across business and technical stakeholders and communicate complex requirements, risks, and decisions in clear language.
- Use AFS-approved AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate research synthesis, requirements analysis, backlog refinement, documentation, and product decision support while validating outputs.
- As your experience grows, own larger product areas, define product vision and success measures, mentor others, and influence roadmap and prioritization decisions across teams or programs.
Here’s what you need:
- Professional experience in product management, business analysis, requirements engineering, product ownership, Agile facilitation, or comparable client-facing delivery work, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience translating user, business, mission, or stakeholder needs into requirements, user stories, backlog items, acceptance criteria, or delivery priorities.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams and communicating effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum/SAFe delivery, backlog management, iterative development, and release planning.
- For candidates with deeper experience, demonstrated ability to independently own product areas, lead discovery and prioritization, mentor others, and influence cross-team product decisions.
Bonus points if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Miro, Lucidchart, Rally, or comparable product and delivery tools.
- Experience with RICE, WSJF, OKRs, product analytics, customer research, service design, journey mapping, or process modeling.
- Experience with federal consulting, government systems, regulated environments, or mission-oriented delivery.
- Product Owner, Scrum Master, SAFe, Agile, business analysis, or product-management certification.
- Experience working across product management, business analysis, and Agile facilitation responsibilities.
- Ability to facilitate discussions, organize ambiguity, communicate tradeoffs, and take increasing ownership of product or stakeholder workstreams.
Eligibility Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to work with federal clients and comply with applicable AFS, client, security, and program requirements.
- Ability to work in a hybrid, remote, or client-site environment as program needs require.
