Associate Curator, M+ Museum

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century. 

Reporting to the Curator of Teaching and Learning, the Associate Curator is the operation lead for M+ Academy who will support educational research, course development, and the production and promotion of academic programmes and digital learning resources that engage the museum’s diverse audiences. The Associate Curator will also support the development of strategic partnerships with universities and institutions.

You will be responsible for:

• Working closely with local, regional, and international arts and culture professionals and education specialists to conceptualise, develop, and organise professional development programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives for the professional community
• Planning and delivering global educational campaigns and stakeholder engagement initiatives to enhance institutional visibility and influence
• Developing interdisciplinary curriculum and implementation plans of accredited and continuing education courses (onsite and online) for a range of potential audiences interested in the work of contemporary museum, curatorial practice, arts administration, visual art, design, architecture, moving image and cinema
• Developing strategic partnerships with colleges, universities, and institutions to identify opportunities to drive academic cooperation
• Researching and producing digital learning resources for scholars, teachers and students that reflect and respond to curatorial themes and exhibition content with a focus on specific creative disciplines
• Assisting the Learning and Interpretation Team in all programmes; and
• Performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.

You should:

• possess a recognised university degree, preferably in higher education, , international relations, entrepreneurship, anthropology, humanities, comparative literature, cultural management or equivalent;
• have at least 6–10 years of relevant professional experience in academic programme and curriculum development, course coordination and administration, project management of art, cultural or educational events;
• have proven experience in managing global initiatives, working with people from different cultures, and delivering projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment ;
• have strong research skills with demonstrated commitment to learning, and maintain up-to-date knowledge with the literature and practices of learning and engagement programming issues in contemporary museums;
• be a diplomatic and collaborative team player with strong strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, and analytical capability; and
• have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
