Job Description

The Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis Manager is a hands-on role responsible for building, maintaining, and analyzing the corporate budget, forecast, and profitability models supporting the company’s investment advisor business and related entities. This position is primarily responsible for: (i) the consolidated corporate budget, forecast cycles, and scenario analysis, (ii) the firm’s profitability model and the analysis supporting capital and resource allocation decisions, and (iii) liquidity, covenant, and leverage visibility through the corporate cash forecast and compliance projections. Working alongside and within the corporate accounting and reporting team, this role turns financial information into forward-looking insight, giving leadership a trusted view of profitability, liquidity, leverage, and capital deployment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Planning, Forecasting and Scenario Modeling

  • Own the consolidated three-year corporate budget rollup and the quarterly and periodic forecast cycles, including tracking forecast accuracy and explaining material variances to improve reliability over time.
  • Explain and summarize changes between forecast versions, identifying the assumptions and drivers behind each revision and the implications for the forward outlook.
  • Coordinate with the Portfolio Management Analytics team to ingest and review corporate fee and investment forecast outputs. Develop and review holistically those areas not covered by their models.
  • Maintain and update the corporate cash forecast on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare covenant and leverage projections, ensuring real-time information is incorporated and risks are surfaced on a timely basis.

Profitability, Performance and Decision Support

  • Own and enhance the firm’s profitability model, including allocation methodologies and contribution margin reporting by operating segment, business unit, and leader.
  • Develop scenario and sensitivity capabilities supporting multi-year views and long-range planning.
  • Develop the analysis needed to evaluate capital spend and expected returns in support of resource allocation decisions and their operating-model implications.
  • Analyze actual results in parallel with the monthly and quarterly close, partnering with the accounting and reporting team on variance explanations and ensuring management reporting reconciles to GAAP results.
  • Analyze investment performance and coordinate with the investment accounting function on related reporting and analytics.

Data, Systems and FP&A Operations

  • Leverage and refine the shared data foundation maintained within the team, including account mapping, fund tagging, business unit mapping, and additional dimensions required for modeling.
  • Participate in enterprise performance management (EPM) and other financial system implementations and enhancements, including requirements definition, model and report design, data mapping, testing, and adoption, to improve planning, forecasting, and reporting capabilities.
  • Identify areas where models, data sourcing, and reporting may be automated and/or streamlined and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Document and maintain models and supporting procedures to ensure continuity, version control, assumption governance, and to enable review by others.

Stakeholder Engagement and Execution

  • Interact with internal and external customers, other team members, and all necessary departments to ensure prompt resolution of issues and maximum efficiency of operations. This includes review and oversight of data from other departments or external parties.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate tasks, ensuring deadlines are met while having a continuous improvement and team-oriented mindset.

Additional duties and ad-hoc deliverables, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • CFA preferred
  • 6+ years of progressive financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, transaction advisory, investment banking, or public accounting experience
  • Demonstrated experience personally building, maintaining, and reviewing complex multi-year financial models, budgets, and forecasts
  • Expert Microsoft Excel skills, including work with large data sets, complex formulas, and model design and documentation
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and the ability to translate GAAP results into management reporting, forecasts, and analytics
  • Ability to synthesize complex analyses into clear, executive-level presentations and recommendations
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and deadline oriented
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced collaborative work environment, while being flexible, adaptable, and having fun
  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and positively with all levels of employees, executives, and third-party personnel
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improvement
  • Willing to work longer hours during peak reporting times
  • Must be willing to work on-site
  • Experience and qualifications may warrant placement in a different job title

Preferred Attributes:

  • Real estate investment management, private equity, or asset management experience
  • Experience with management fee, promote, incentive fee, and carried interest structures
  • Expense allocation, profitability, or contribution margin modeling experience
  • Power BI, Power Query, or comparable data transformation and visualization tools
  • Real estate accounting software or Yardi experience
  • Experience with enterprise performance management (EPM) or financial planning system implementations
